Re: Great/Interesting Finds

Three Acer KB-102AS are up on German eBay, at least one with photo-confirmed blue ALPS. Pretty well yellowed, though...

Quite a flood of these around just now, eh?

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

anybody else thinking that ebay kinda dried out? Acutally, I've been thinking just that a lot for the last half year or so. Kleinanzeigen, too. Maybe a sort of critical moment has come where most of the remaining interesting vintage keyboards are already in the hands of collectors and laypeople hav...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Yes, Rafi-made for sure!

Myoth: I actually found an NMB board with space invaders in a practically identical case. What made you assume it's sliders-over-dome?

Hm, having mixed feelings about this one. It looks extremely flat, but could still have ALPS, no? Anyone got an inkling? Thanks!

Good luck, man! I always found these kinds of hauls very exciting, a bit like Christmas TBH. And rare enough for those of us who don't have friendly recyclers in their vicinity like some I could mention...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

That's a *very* good rubber dome made by NMB. It is not, however, mechanical, even though it is noisier than quite a few clicky boards.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

I reckon this has Fujitsu leaf springs in a very cool compact layout. High shippings costs kill it, of course. But maybe there's someone here from Australia who has a taste for it.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

If anyone wants one of those Siemens boards in the first picture let me know and I'll get them for you for 15€ plus shipping. There are also a G80-3000 LPMDE and a G81-1000HAD to be had from that seller. Let me know if interested. I want that NCR. Is that Apple (?) board at the bottom of the second ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

I'd get that Olivetti board if it's no more than 5 - 10€. Should have interesting short travel switches.

The one behind that should be a Monterey K208 (rubber dome).

The rest is modern crap...

Well, the bidders list shows obvious shill-bidding.
The "bidder" shown as e***a (144) in the bid history is or has been bidding, as the details of his own bid history reveals, on multiple articles of the same seller in many different categories:

Hey fellas,

Does anyone recognize the sublegends on this Cherry board? (Or maybe they were added manually?) I'm guessing PBT dyesub caps as there's no yellowing. Sorry about the tiny pic!

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

You're right, they don't, the pingy monsters! Mine sounded too unpleasant plus the width of the split didn't agree with me. I do love their overall design / shape, though, hence it's been my avatar pic here for ages (together with its quite rare sidekick numpad - I'd love to collect one of those...).

Re: Silent keyboards slow typing speed (research?)

For me it's not really about reaching top speeds, but I reason that a setup that allows you a very high (sustainable) speed while keeping errors down will be the most comfortable and productive in everyday situations as well...

Re: Silent keyboards slow typing speed (research?)

Very interesting replies, thanks a lot. Still makes me wonder whether the sound response could be completely replaced by tactile feedback - or which of the two is superior when it comes to its effect on typing speed. The question is a bit academical as practically all clicky switches have a tactile ...
