Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)
I'm sure that was a typo.
My recommendation: Try Kailh box royals. They are medium weight, extremely sharply tactile and when the lube wears off after a couple of weeks they even become clicky. Excellent switches all round!

Re: Lubed Mitsumi MM Review
The board that Thorogrimm is now selling has white Alps-mount linears on the alphas that I took from two numpads. All the examples I've seen in full keyboards were tactile: yellow, green and white. The difference between them is not terribly significant, probably just the weighting and possibly the ...

Re: Lubed Mitsumi MM Review
I think what happens is that the metal of the top housing (silly choice of material!) corrodes and thus become rough and / or interacts with the plastic of the slider hence I considered WD-40 to be ideally suited as: WD-40 isn't actually a true lubricant. WD stands for "water displacing" and its mai...

Re: 'Vaporfly' switches - I want'em!
I was trying to make a fine distinction between bouncy and mushy. For me, 'mushy' means that a lot of your kinetic energy just dissipates on bottoming out. As material representing this quality, I would suggest some sort of foam or sponge. Bouncy, however, describes a kind of trampoline effect where...

Ahhh, this is great stuff, thank y'all for your input! Keyboard.io gives you one palm button for each hand. But this nifty device can easily give you three per hand. Even elbow keys could now become a thing!! Now I'll just have to find one in reasoably appealing condition...

Oh my F***ING G*d!
Just saw this 'Creative Labs Prodikeys DM' keyboard (!) for the first time ever. If I could somehow program those musical keys, this would be sort of like a wet dream of my keyboarding "career"! Does anyone know if that's at all possible - or do they just produce sound from some internal speaker? Ma...

Re: 'Vaporfly' switches - I want'em!
Thanks for chiming in! It would seem then that while concial springs could approximate what I want, the MX platform isn't designed to accomodate them. Spirit's progressive springs therefore achieve progression with a fixed diameter but increasing distance between coils; not sure what the technical t...

Re: 'Vaporfly' switches - I want'em!
Yes, a non-linear spring would do that, except non-linear springs don't exist according to this very interesting bit of keyboard science that I just managed to dig up. This supports Bjerrk's and my contention above that, really, a second element (spring, foam or whatever) is needed to properly manag...

Tactility isn't what I'm talking about as it is supposed to signal actuation rather than the physical end of the movement so it is usually placed far above the switch's bottom.

Re: 'Vaporfly' switches - I want'em!
Yeah, of course, a second spring might work even better than something involving foam, though it would mean a complete switch redesign as opposed to just sticking some kind of foam in or around the switch somwhere . I have a feeling that a leaf spring might be particularly well suited to the task, b...

Re: 'Vaporfly' switches - I want'em!
Thanks for your input. I would posit that for an ideal typing experience there should be an element either inside or outside (like a high-tech O-ring) the switch itself hat while signalling clearly to the finger that the end of the motion has been reached, is designed to 1. return as much of the ene...

1. I knew I shouldn't have tried to enlighten this haven of keyboard luddites and traditionalists with my brilliant idea, should have just gone straight to reddit! 2. The argument that minor improvements in typing feel and speed don't matter is pretty rich on a forum where many spend100s of $$ to ge...

Re: Colleagues say my keyboard is too loud...
Get those O-rings if you're set on keeping your current setup for a cheap and quick fix. If hardware can be changed, I second XMIT's praise of box switches in general and the silent browns in particular. To get back at the whining bastards, though, claim you have developed RSI and just use dictation...

Well, this is the key passage: The Nike Vaporfly sole helps runners lose less energy per step Jake Riley, an American runner who finished ninth in the 2019 Chicago marathon, has said the Nike Vaporfly 4% shoes feel like „running on trampolines.“ The secret is in the sole, which is designed to help r...

The G80 version of the 8038 is not a Cherry model, but a modification made by a third party (don't remember the name at the moment), according to which they make them only with MX browns. Bugger, you were right, of course. G81 it is!  Still, a great little tank of a board. Not sure I wi...
