Re: Stuff you just bought

It’s a Weihrauch HW30S, a very low power springer, fitted with a nice Hawke Vantage IR 2-7x32AO scope. The limit for no-license ownership here is 10 joules but I ordered it from Germany where the limit is 7.5 J; in layman’s terms, it might kill a bird but it’ll barely break skin on a mammal (ok it’...

Re: I need some help to clarify myself about keycap profiles

I'm also concerned about the bigger keycaps, like this one. Should be angled or flat? At least to me, the profile looks horrid in this thing.

I need some help to clarify myself about keycap profiles

Hello guys. I'm designing a keyboard from the switches to the case (or really just dreaming about it). When I was modeling the keycaps I found something really interesting. You'll see, when I have my Selectric keycaps lying on my desk, they look something like this: https://media.discordapp.net/atta...

Re: Key Communications Cherry MX Unsaver type keyboard conversion advice.

What a cute keyboard :) Haha yes it is any ideas how u could go about converting it and getting the screen to function? I would just, forgive the redundancy, trace the traces and write a pinout of the main controller of the keyboard (basically I'm telling you to copy the matrix) and then replace th...

I love the buzzer as well. Just used a similar one in one of my projects. I wish it made a "click" noise though. Does such a component exist?

I think you need to see this: http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/gcnc/ch1/ Thanks dude. I was checking that guide in general terms but I intend something more rudimentary. Another update: Here is an assembly of the modules mounted on the PCB. I didn't bothered in the reed switches, I may end replacing them...

Talking serious about it, some of the economic decisions made by the NSDAP can work very well in my country because of the context. Right now we cannot resort to any conventional form of financing (taxes, currency or debt) and we have a constant inflationary panic and a lot of idleness. Would be goo...

Re: Behold the first switch I ever designed.

Hi. Sorry for the slow updating. The resin idea is quite good for test switches (the idea is use POM to achieve a good smoothness). I also found a standard type of magnet. When I was talking about beamspring springs it was because of the compressión springs they have, but this part is not too critic...

Re: Behold the first switch I ever designed.

I'm working on a new version of the switch, which will be mounted on the PCB like something between Keytronic magnetic reed and Fujitsu leafspring. Re: Beamspring Switchplate Restore.

You got lucky! At least yours wasn't like this one I got a while back: _DSC5719 copy.JPG On yours, You could just put a light coat of rust preventing oil (like something lanolin based, though beware, your beamspring may then smell like a sheep) and wipe off the excess. How rare is find something li...

Re: Beamspring Switchplate Restore.

Well, is not something too bad. If you want a clean and more serious finish you should paint the plate. Otherwise, if you don't want to expend money or you preffer the original zinc plating just leave it like that, but don't try to remove the rust, it will rust even more. Personally, in that state I...

Re: Melted the Stablizer clips on my IBM Model F AT

Barrel stabilizers are not as great for vertical purposes. Try to make some stabilizers by hand and glue them to the keyboard, I think Fohat or someone else did that in order to use a model M spacebar inside a model F. I have like 4 spare pairs, but the shipping from my country would kill your walle...

Re: Most durable vintage switches?

I think reparability is as important as the durability itself. Lets put IBM switches as an example. Beamsprings are a lot more dust sensitive than buckling springs (still being fucking extra over technology compared to modern switches), but unlike the model F's, beamspring keyboards can be taken apa...
