It's never too late for such kind of documentation. Who knows in the future who could need it! A lot of vintage parts are still buried somewhere
Thanks for your help!

OLIVETTI WS 685
Hello, a forum member asked me to disassemble and take pictures of my Olivetti WS 685 terminal keyboard. The keyboard is brand new, salvaged from a recycling center. Switches are Cherry MX blacks, caps are DS and it is internally marked as Cherry G80 series. I have no more information about it ; I w...

Re: IBM 3278 beamspring keyboard restoration and usb convert
Very impressive! Though I must admit I laughed a bit when you used a pen to outline the holes just after showing a cad model of the part when then was laser cut and bended :) I had a hard time to convince a local plastic laser cutting shop to cut me the foam from the cad model but after 5 attempts ...

Re: IBM 3278 beamspring keyboard restoration and usb convert
Very nice restore! I’ve had one like this in the past and what really kill things is if the springs and stems are rusted though, so I’m glad yours was salvageable! How did you restore the case? Chemicals vs sandblasting, or both? What type of paint? I gave the case to a car paint shop and a color s...

Re: IBM 3278 beamspring keyboard restoration and usb convert
I've restored a pretty rusty 3101 but this is another level! amazing work, an inspiration for sure. I also couldn't believe the work you put into modelling and producing replacement switch and back plates! Are these resources you'd consider sharing with the community? I was wondering the same, if t...

Hi! Thank You all for the kind words! Yes I did repaint the cover, but as I anticipated in the audio , due to covid, I could'nt shoot the video of the paint job. I have no paint code because I just brought everything to a "body shop" and they have something like a colorimeter and a machine that blen...

Re: IBM 3278 beamspring keyboard restoration and usb convert
Wow, this is really cool! Amazing labor of love! Beautiful result from a badly deteriorated start point. Love the aesthetics of the keyboard, as well as the other vintage equipment used to fix it (blue vice, soldering iron)! And I also love the marine cold weather gloves. Very creative use of dive ...

CHERRY G81 1800 HQU (MY) keyboard mechanical retrofit
Hi, lately I completed a mechanical retrofit to a CHERRY G81 1800 HQU rubberdome keyboard. This keyboard has nice double shot keycaps and I found a new and very cheap one on a local listing. The retrofit involved replacing the pcb with a G80 1800 Leeche (cina) one and adding a self designed/modified...

Re: How to improve MX Blacks?
Hi,
I like linears and I find that mx blacks are too heavy for my fingers too.
I usually replace them with lubed Gateron yellows as You can see here, where I replaced even the pcb in a g81. If You buy them from china they are extremely cheap.

I remind You that, if you plan to install a controller, all metal parts must be in electrical contact with each other and grounded to the controller, especially the upper and lower plates or Your controller will read wrong and erratic capacitance from the key presses.

Re: New Compact Beamspring controller available
Hey guys! An update: It recently came to my attention that some 327x/3101 keyboards have assymetric card edge fingers, meaning the depth is different. Re: Beamspring keycap yellowing
Hi,
I was asking myself the same question.
I've been given some 3276s to restore and some have one or two yellowed keycaps. I know how to retrobright but I'm afraid of bleaching the caps. Did anyone attempt a retrobright on those?

So, thank you lucar, springs WORK. Thanks, I know they work but they are stiffer and less fluid then the original ones in my opinion.
