Re: Switch identification on an old calculator

hmm the keycap mount along using the external coil spring would suggest to me that it is some form of foam and foil switch however without seeing the back of the keyboard pcb there is no way to be sure

Re: [Done] CommonSense: matrix LCR meter with a HID interface

Thank you for that, managed to flash the board and get it into safe mode :) now i have the seemingly impossible task to get the keys registering which is going to take a few hours to do. i may need to look at replacing the magnet wire i have used possibly with shielded wire to reduce interferance

Re: [Done] CommonSense: matrix LCR meter with a HID interface

Sorry, I don't really exist here - I'm summoned by PMs and couple topic's notifications and miss a lot of things. Interesting - matrix PCB completely devoid of active components. You have BIG cojones or an access to a good desoldering tool or both, Sir. Do not do that at home, kids, especially with...

I did remove the capacitor that was connected to that pin.
i will try just moving the row pins down one and see if that works

Re: [Done] CommonSense: matrix LCR meter with a HID interface

do the 3 capacitors need to be desoldered if having only 8 rows for mag valve? I am getting an error when connecting the dev board after soldering on the rows/columnns as well as the references so is that why the capacitors need to be removed?

Re: [Done] CommonSense: matrix LCR meter with a HID interface

Hi DMA just wanted to clarify something.

Rows start at R0 on the picture however columns start at C1. Am i right to assume that C1 should be C0 and so on?

Re: MX blacks: random impressions

I would be quite willing to solder and build a kit for you for free if you were to supply it, assuming it is just putting a build together that is a problem. Though I will repeat that you would gain so much from coming to a meetup and trying a small selection of what the wider community has to offer...

Re: Key Communications Keyboard Coating On Traces Coming Off Help

you can still desolder the chips just do not take the coating off beyond that. Actually looking at it again all the traces going to the keyboard are on the opposite side so the traces you have shown will not be connected to the teensy anyway

Re: Key Communications Keyboard Coating On Traces Coming Off Help

try not to scratch too much off as it exposes the traces underneeth which could be a problem if you get shorts due to teh traces being exposed.

probably conformal coating protecting against moisure or dirt etc; as long as the traces are fine it shouldn't matter

Re: Could use some help with reverse engineering a typewriter PCB, for use with a Pro Micro and QMK.

as all the double action switches are linked together it would mean only being able to have one action for all of them, which is why i said it would better to isolate them by cutting the traces and wiring them up separately, unless i am not understanding your proposal

Re: Could use some help with reverse engineering a typewriter PCB, for use with a Pro Micro and QMK.

i think all that would have done is changed the repeat rate for those keys, so they would put out the same character just at a faster rate. You can cut the traces on the pcb for the second action and then wire the pins manually to the controller as a separate column that way you would be able to use...

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

it will generate a matrix based on the layout, you would need to manually edit each switch to make sure it matched the matrix that you drew out. otherwise you would get errors like a f when should be a g etc

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

the code you get from keyboardlayouteditor.com would need to be pasted into kbfirmware.com, you will need to set up your matrix, teensy pins, cps lock pin, keymap etc then further edit those files for your ctrl 1= F1 before compiling into a .hex file. Then you would need to flash that file to the te...

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

here is the pinout of the teensy2++ https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/pinout4a.png you will want to keep pins D0 and D1 free if you are going to be using a screen as it will need those pins As has been mentioned D6 does have an on board LED which can cause errors so best to avoid that pin other then that ...

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

you will not be able to get that screen working along with having the programmable keyboard as you want it. It is possible to have an OLED screen however again it would need programming which is beyond my expertise. what exactly were you wanting to use the screen for in any case?

that code from the keyboard layout editor site is then input into the kbfirmware.com site in order to then make the files that would be needed. the code i linked would need to be added to one of the files that is generated by kbfirmware.com

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

For that you would set up a dedicated FN key so you would hold down that key that would change the layer. It is best not to use modifiers as these functions are already hard coded to what keys they operate on.

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

I guess you would put the | key in the bottom right, though it will not matter for generating the keymap as that key itself is just seen as KC_GRAVE where the `~ key would be if on a US board. Windows would then translate that key into the regional graph.

Re: Key Communications keyboard Matrix Mapped need help with controller programming.

Also had a look at the links you posted and i don't think there is a keyboard template that matches mine  you would need to take the layout of something like a full size and then move, delete and adjust the keys to fit what you want. click the key you want to change and there box below allows ...
