Re: Help with MCL Micronorth Co Ltd

if you have a multimeter that has a continuity setting then all you would need to do is place the probes on the two switch legs at the solder points and then press the switch. If the meter beeps then the switch is working fine. You can do this without desoldering from the pcb.

1) If the PS2 to USB converter that you got is not described as being active then it will not be converting the AT protocol to USB therefore that is probably why you are getting no keys registering. 2) If 1 does not work, then it is technically possible to replace the controller IC with a Teensy whi...

Re: Taking a break

I am sorry to see that you are taking a break hopefully it is only temporerally rather then permanent. In many ways i share the same feelings with you, not so much on the selling side (though that might change if my keyboard buying does not stay under control). However i also try and convert every v...

There might be some information on http://www.hp9845.net/. Re: Model M exact model number help pls

it does indeed look like a uk version, though a few keycaps have been swapped around; `¬ ¦ should be next to 1 on the number row, #~ should be next to enter, \| should be next to left shift and finally as you have already said the y and z keys should be swapped if intended for uk layout. The connect...

HP 9845 workstation keyboard (ITW Magnetic Valve)

I first saw this board placed for sale by tentator in his recent sales thread and instantly thought it looked cool, scientific numpad, thick doubleshot keycaps, an Execute key and at an acceptable price, The original listing was unknown switch type, however with some digging through the wiki thanks ...

Re: Where do you guys store your keyboards?

I have a shoe rack to display most of my collection, can fit about 16-17 boards though most are full sized or larger so you could put a few more smaller boards on it.

Re: Trends in keyboard design: Who started what?

keysets and keyboards are normally sent by drop by air so they normally get to the uk and through customs quicker then if they were sent by sea. The cost is the same but at least it is payment online rather then waiting for a slip at the door from RM for 2 days before they finally deliver

This is why i recommended coming to a meetup where you would be a able to try many different switches instead of just what cherry is offering before buying a full keyboard. There are several in the community that would be willling to lube switches and/or build the board for you and make sure everyth...

Re: MX blacks: random impressions

you are probably correct that the sound differences are because of the different plastics used, though i think they perhaps have different crevice volumes even though the SA caps may have thicker walls. Sound is highly dependant on a number of factors and many enthusiasts in the hobby are going down...

The RGB i agree with you, however i do like having the side window, i can see the small LED indicator that gives codes if there is an issue with the mb during post without relying on morse code from a tinny speaker. I also like to see my water cooling loop given i spent so much on it.

it is as good as a beamspring, though it is too rare to be well known enough to have a value attached to it. Other then mine and Haata's there was only one other example using the style of switches that i am aware of.

Its not going to be in the original colours or keycap profile but there is a set stocked on PMK called Ferrous that comes with the H7 keys, I managed to talk the designer into including them considering that many who joined the GBs did not have any keycaps for them. https://pimpmykeyboard.com/dsa-fe...

well that is like comparing a Farrari from 30 years ago and one from today they are both of high quality but it depends what you want from a board, with IBM you are locked to switch, keycaps and layout compared to what you can get today, on the other hand the IBM keyboard is going to be more reliabl...

i do not believe there has been a board ith that specific layout given that the vast majority would go for either 65/75% if they wanted arrow keys but smaller then a TKL aka SSK layout. you could probably quite easily design your own plate and sandwich case and then hand wire the board and get somet...
