Re: Micro Switch SW-11075

Hi and welcome to Dt The board looks to be in good condition i see no rust in the pictures that are provided. I would start by first removing the keycaps and then use denture cleaning tabs in warm water to clean them. For the switches themselves carefully remove them from the metal armature that hol...

I would say:
  • R Shift + Up = Pg Up
  • R Shift + Down = Pg Down
  • R Shift + Left = Home
  • R Shift + Right = End

Re: Custom Layouts: Japanese and German

The layout is missing PgUp and PgDown keys. I use those often. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't these keys just for scrolling? I think I would use my mouse in these cases. Thank you again! I will make a 2.0 version of both Layouts Certainly in most games and some other applications pg up and pg...

Re: XT/AT/PS2/Terminal to USB Converter with NKRO

well AT is far easier to get working on a modern system a simple 5 pin din to PS/2 adaptor along with an active PS/2 to USB converter and then you have a working keyboard obviously it limits re programming but for a laymen user its simple and easy solution. Of course for those that make their own co...

Re: UK Military Keyboard (Alphameric Foam and Foil)

well it is foam and foil so it should be able to run using the capsense controller though I have not yet investigated it on the board that i have. it is quite heavy so be prepared to pay the cost of shipping. Also ask the seller to wrap the plug to protect it from scratching the casing its got a sol...

all that can be known is just going by the wiki page wiki/Chicony_KB-5160 given the different configurations with no information. I would probably say omrons would be the case should be a nice switch anyway even taking into account the dubious reliability.

Re: Why can't modern Mechanical keyboard build like Northgate Omnikey?

Cost, back in the 80s keyboards were expensive so could afford to be made of higher quality so they would last. Now there is no market for a quality board that will last as most gamers who are the biggest market would upgrade their system/keyboard every few years anyway. The rest of the world is on ...

hmm could it have something to do with the stabiliser for the spacebar perhaps causing slight difference in capacitance for those pads as they are near where the stabiliser would be.

Re: Kailh Switch Series, which one is your favorite?

I am aware of the cherry low profile switch hence why i said they did not innovate during their patent period then again i guess the market for mechanical keyboards has really gained traction in the past 5 years or so and could not have been forseen at that time. I guess that it is more of a cultura...

yet at least they have actually shown innovation during their relatively short time they have been around unlike Cherry who did nothing during their patent time and actually only retooled their moulds because the new designs showed how worn out their current ones were. The problems were not really t...

UK Military Keyboard (Alphameric Foam and Foil)

Quite the coincidance that after buying this board off ebay on Friday Chyros did a review on the earlier Alphameric switches. However I did not know it was Alphameric until i saw a different ebay auction that had the same font style used. DSCF1415.JPG As you can see the board itself is almost pristi...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress)

you want it to be 2-2.5mm the main thing is the compressibility if you go too thin then the middle rows will not be secure enough due to less compression in the middle, if it is too thick then you will not be able to compress it enough for the baseplate. There are several threads in the past about f...

Nice, My Model F that i restored last year was made a day after yours. Re: Model F AT capsensing issue

normally when the boards do not work it is because there is too little capacitance for it to reach the threshold to fire. I know in XTs that it can be caused by the bolt going through the pcb into the plate not being screwed down enough or in the board i got it had been screwed the wrong way round s...

I would guess they would sell a bulk lot of keyboards but you would get the few good with a ton of domes judging from this on their about page RE-USE Before RE-CYCLE Suburban Miners believes in re-use over recycling. If an item has any market value at all and is still in working condition, or can be...

Re: Why modern keyboard feel and look horrible compare to the beige era keyboard?

Ok i will go through your points, i did find the thread very amusing to read. 1) having a slider as well as the keycap means that it is 2x as complex to build the keyboard having to put the sliders into the top housing, fix together then turn over when placing the keycaps. plus it is harder to place...

Re: (%x)KRO vs True *KRO, quality parameter

In many cases the 2KRO is actually limited by the controller rather then the matrix, if you were to replace the controller with say a Teensy then you may find that you can indeed press 6 keys at the same time and they will register. The controllers themselves will artificially limit simultaneous key...
