I prefer my keyboards propped at a pretty high angle like the original model M with the feet flipped out and using my F77 flat on my desk is killing my wrists.
I placed an order for keyboard feet / bumpers in the shop but the list of options is kinda confusing and it's unclear if what I ordered ...

Both of my keyboards came, only had time to assemble the compact one for now.

I didn't move any springs over -- and for one reason: they're very different in terms of weighting. You can even feel it when handling individual springs outside the keyboard: the Ellipse ones definitely seem to have a lower spring constant. The Ellipse Model F has quite a low actuation force ...

Did anyone try transplanting their flipper+spring assemblies from XT F or similar keyboards into their modern versions? As i understand it it should be possible. Might give it that extra bit of feel and sound for those still preferring the vintage stuff.

What are we going to do about it I guess? We will just wait and in the mail will be a keyboard at some point in time in the future.

Regarding Pg Up and Pg Dn, interestingly my 1391472 from 1987 has a half space between Pg and Up and no space between Pg and Dn. Probably best to go with ryvnf's recommendation of no spaces.


I took a look at my old Model F(pictured in another thread here) and it too has a half space before Up ...

...and any last minute additions are welcome.


I do feel i'm being a bit spoiled here, but being a mac user with two keyboards on order, it would be real neat if the legends for the Mac Command key would be "cmd ⌘" and alt would be:

I'm thinking a visual configurator tool'd do the trick, where everyone could input exactly what they want(choosing from the myriad of keys in the 'system' as of now.

This could also allow for mods & personal variations on iso & ansi layouts, and it would naturally all be continually customizable ...

I've been thinking of ordering an extra set to cap my original model f to make it appear same as i have mapped it, but that means some odd prints on various shaped keys. The key factory has returned from the holiday break and will now start working on the PBT key tolerances. The keys need to be a little smaller coming out of the mold so they need to adjust and test the molds. They are experimenting with the PBT color mixing to get the right colors.

It might, but if i were you i'd try to find some thin anti-skid feet at a craft store or possibly the hardware store. Even the slightest hint of movement is jarring.

Come to think of it, maybe tap some holes in the bottom of the keyboard, drill holes in the desk and bolt that sucker from below.

I think we can look at this like any other group buy, albeit one that has attracted a considerable amount of attention. But in the end everything is up to Ellipse. It's his project, and we as a community can ask for things but i don't think we should feel we have any real sway in matters.

I am still sourcing the special spring material identified by the material analysis lab. It is an old standard that is no longer as widely available in such a small diameter but will hopefully have good news from some wire manufacturers this week.

Try wrapping the whole bottom in aluminium foil which you connect to usb ground. I'm leaning towards RFI.
