Olympia ES100 module
Hi there. For sale keyboard module from Olympia ES 100 typewriter. Partially restored. Switchplate and the rest of metal parts sanded and repainted. Switches are Marquardt Butterfly's. Left untouched. I personally like them better lubed with ptfe (spray version), but in this case they're not so pot...

Purdo comes from "pierdzieć" which means farting. Bol comes from "jabol" which is cheap wine sold in carton boxes.

Re: Chicony 5182 not working, can it be fixed?
At this point it's going to be hard to pinpoint what's wrong with the board. Still think that main IC got fried or at least some part of it. And testing ICs is beyond my capabilities and knowledge. I guess one way of checking it would be seeing what's the output in logic analyzer. But again I'm to s...

Re: Chicony 5182 not working, can it be fixed?
Ok so both ICs have proper voltage which is a good sign.
Did you connect the clock and data lines to check the keyboard (in either configuration)?
I presume the XT/AT switch is set properly to AT

Re: Chicony 5182 not working, can it be fixed?
Don't give up that easily :) Search for the datasheet of the other IC (the one closest to cable) and figure out where the voltage goes. If you have the datasheet of the main IC check the leg that's bent. What's it for? After that connect the board properly and check voltages on both ICs. If there's ...

Re: Chicony 5182 not working, can it be fixed?
You can search for a data sheet of the closest IC. And check which leg is 5V. Then trace it back to the cable pin. Then you'll have ground and voltage sorted out. With clock and data pins you can experiment without worrying of damaging anything. Problem is, the damage could be already done. Wrongly ...

Re: Chicony 5182 not working, can it be fixed?
What's the source of replacement cable? Is it from another 5182?
First thing to check is that the keyboard is actually properly connected.
There's a picture on wiki of 5181, and the pinout goes like this: Clock, Data, Voltage, Ground.

They're finicky when it comes to flashing. It's good you're familiar with linux though. Since it's way easier to do it on that os. All necessary steps are here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?t=8448 I do it this way: 1. Pro Micro connected to check the device name in terminal. 2. Disconnect t...

Re: ES 110 conversion
This is fantastic! Great work! Sitting here looking over to my old Facit. Thinking i better keep it as a typewriter, but this would be fun to try out tho Most likely it can be done non-invasively. Depends on the model of course. But if the keyboard module itself is bare bones (no integrated circuit...

Can't believe people are recommending theft so blatantly.
It's wrong on so many levels. With the only goal being to satisfy egoistic desire.
Just ask. And if the answer is no just move on, and buy one yourself.
Have some honor.

You have no idea, I've been wanting to try these for a while, but I can't find any sources of them! It does take time and patience not gonna lie. But simple search "olympia es" on ebay is a good start. Currently there are two available. One in Washington for 100$ or best offer. Local pick up though...

Re: Honest opinion on beamspring boards?
Best switch there is. Someone described it as cracking an egg shell with your fingers. Very crisp, smooth. Granted I do have very limited experience with one of those. Their biggest disadvantage (by modern standards) is how tall they are. Which ironically is also the biggest strength. I doubt it cou...

Re: How do I make a 58-key matrix that works with a Pro Micro?
Just ignore the "Schematic" part of the guide and follow the rest I guess. When you get to the Routing paragraph, align the traces to correspond to the Pro Micro pinout. https://deskthority.net/wiki/Arduino_Pro_Micro. Or maybe try handwiring method first. It'll be way easier, and it is great learnin...

Re: How do I make a 58-key matrix that works with a Pro Micro?
No it is for the chip alone. Pro Micro has all the necessary stuff built in (like crystal, capacitors, resistors).
And has 18 pins available for use so up to 80 keys (10x8). So the only thing left is trace management and diodes.

I'm confused. You want to use Pro Micro as a daughter board or 32U4 chip integrated into pcb itself?

Re: Blue Alps Kickstarter and prototype Discussion
Maybe something along the lines of "modifying" matias switches would be easier to do. Instead of building whole switch from the ground up.
Long switchplates (do they fit matias housing?) and click leafs for a starter.
Then the top housing with slits...
