Re: Best budget mechanical keyboard?

For the benefit of other readers: a lot of the recent spam accounts follow the same pattern of starting a thread with a copy-and-paste post from Reddit, and then some time later, editing in spam links. If you see a new thread posing a question from a new and one-post account, it's worth doing a quic...

Re: Need some help with my Mextel Autokey 40

The 74xx series chips are widespread and generic - many manufacturers make near-identical versions of those chips. Any other 74LS32 in that form factor will be a drop-in replacement. One to three extra letters at the front are a manufacturer ID code, an extra letter or two at the back is the packagi...

Re: Have you ever seen Num/Caps/Scroll Lock actually used WITH modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) to obtain a different action

I have a custom-controller numpad that goes off in a slightly different direction and uses Num Lock itself as a mod key, with QMK's LT() function - tap it to toggle Num Lock as usual, hold it to use as a mod key. For example, Num Lock + 8 acts as Volume Up. It's surprisingly handy!

Re: suggestions for /dev/tty2 ?

Drop prefers to merge kits as much as possible. I understand that because of: 1) they have a vast majority of noob customers; 2) less prone to fulfillment errors. Judging by the number of people in the first drop that accidentally bought only the alpha kit and no mods, that's a good idea. On the ot...

Re: Are really razer orange and mx brown the same?

The Razer Orange has a bit more pronounced tactility than the MX Brown, but isn't too far away from it. I:C has force curves for the MX Brown and Orange , and going further towards the heavy end, the MX Clear for comparison. The level of tactility you want is purely down to personal decision. Bear i...

Re: Would these Teensy++ 2.0 pins work?

For QMK, the LED pins are used as current sinks. That is, the Teensy is connected to the ground side of the LED-resistor pair, and a constant +5V from the power supply is connected on the other side. Opposite LED polarity from the schematic above.

Interesting typeface, I particularly like the digits. What sort of line thickness requirements does the doubleshot manufacturing process impose? In particular for very thin features, like the line between the padlock and hasp for the Caps Lock key - would that be wide enough for reliable filling whe...

Pretty sure you have that backwards, definitely if it's running QMK and I expect so as well if it's TMK. +5V → LED → resistor → Teensy is how I have my QMK numpad wired - the target Teensy pin acts as a sink, not a source. LED and resistor can be in either order, whichever's easier to wire.

You might be in trouble - not sure if this is correct in all cases, but it's my understanding that the China-manufactured FC660Ms have unusual spacing, and the Taiwan-manufactured boards have...

I really want to join this drop. I’d like the keys for a FC660M. Any advice on the best kit(s) I should order would be much appreciated. Base kit, regular mods, and extra mods - that last one will cover you for the right shift and left Win keys, which are the only two unusual sizes. You might get i...
