For those interested, here's how they look like inside: http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t529-secret-project-sun-keyboard-mod.html I’m surprised to see that it has a seperate dome for each key, though I suppose that would explain why it doesn’t feel crappy. I’m trying to resist hunting down on...

Re: Canon Keyboard
That shininess could be due to wear on the caps. Several of the keys on my M–D have a shine but no wearing to the legends. Here are some poor phone-camera photos of the keys: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1342989767.164531.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1342989786.196459.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1342989811.4...

Re: Canon Keyboard
how can i check if its pad printed or dye-sub? In my limited experience, pad-printed legends tend to be shiny, often with a clear border around the character itself, and are ever-so-slightly raised above the surface. You have to run your finger over it to feel it, but it’s definitely there on the o...

If you're in the uk, you can get some good ones from maplins. http://www.maplin.co.uk/stick-on-feet-1840 Those square stick-on feet look ideal, even though they’re not the same shape as the ones being replaced. That said, I think I’ll give Sugru a go and see how it works out — I’m pretty intrigued ...

At least on my Alcatel one the legends are too sharp to be dye subbed, and too black to be lasered. They definitely aren't doubleshots, and I think the surface is coated. I still think they are pad printed. I just checked the McDonnell–Douglas I have side-by-side with my Model M, and I’m certain it...

Best Material for Replacing Keyboard ‘Feet’
I have an original AEK on which a couple of the ‘feet’ have come off entirely. The two that are left are in a bad way. As such, it has a tendency move around slightly when typing. Any recommendations on what I should use to replace the feet? Blu-Tack would work, but seems less than ideal. Edit: I ...

I've seen these keyboards with various brandings. Sometime ago somebody posted about a thread about some McDonnell Douglas branded ones with Blue ALPS ( here it is ), and I own an Alcatel branded one with complicated ALPS. I still wonder about the Keycaps. My guess would be pad printed ABS. I’m no ...

Depends on how the remapping is done. There are two sources for KRO issues. The matrix and the USB standard. Maybe more that I don't know about. :) If the remapping is done in software the key that is being sent is still capslock and not control so the translation is done AFTER the bottleneck so it...

Capslock and xKRO
Am I correct in presuming that the Capslock key — like shift, Control, and Alt — is *not* counted towards a keyboard’s xKRO value? Testing leads me to believe it’s not, but I’d like to be sure.

hmm ok, guess I'll try it again later with some solderwick. I've got a desoldering pump but that didn't take all the soldering away. Solderwick is one of those things that seems like magic: hold it on top of the joint, apply heat, and watch it soak up the solder. It’s more expensive than using a so...

I have done some desoldering with alps. It's easy, and I would not recommend you to open the switches up instead of desoldering. Getting the switches together again is a pain in the ass. I second that. I’ve desoldered several hundred ALPS switches from various AEKIIs and a McDonnell–Douglas, and it...

It's a keyboard.. make it much more different and people will find it too special and it won't sell. True, but do we really need fifteen only-slightly-different 80-something-key keyboards? You could try an Apple Extended Keyboard (I or II) Both great keyboards (I use an AEKI myself, having graduated from an AEKII just recently), and available quite cheaply these days. They are somewhat limited by the necessity of having a ABD–USB adaptor, like the Griffin iMate, but the investment is...

And some of us simply put the Mont Blanc rollerball refill inside a Pilot G2 and have the same writing experience. Leap Motion - Amazing new input device
I’m far from a CAD expert, but this looks like a dreadful input device for technical drawing. Waving your arms in the air — no matter how precise the tracking is — will never be as precise as mouse or Wacom-like tablet. There’s a reason draughting was historically done on an angled drawing board rat...
