Does Windows support locking caps lock switches?

I've got ALPS lying around and I'm thinking about changing the switches in my Dell AT102W work keyboard.

No idea about the pin-outs, but you could get an S-Video cable for a couple of bucks, so I'd say just pull the trigger. If it turns out to work, you'll need it. If not, it's only a couple of bucks.

I’m having a clear out, finally. My original AEK is modded the way I like it, and now it’s time to clear some space. Any idea how much a new-in-box Apple Extended Keyboard II, with a new-in-bag ADB cable, and new-in-box Griffin iMate is worth? I figure it's time it went to someone who’d appreciate i...

I live in Southampton. One of my friends is a local, he brought me around a few places. I asked them to keep an eye open for old keyboards, and said I'd visit again next week. Most of them were happy to help along :) . It generally takes a couple of visits to get them going though. Apart from that,...

I keep running into AT101s and especially Model Ms. They charge me 50 p for each board usually. That sounds like a great setup. Where in the UK are you based? How did you get into this arrangement? Did you just phone around until you got hold of an e-waste recycler willing to work with you? I've ha...

I almost used it for the prototype to match my 'acid green' office colour scheme. However its not quite green enough to match.

Overall I think the AEKii is better made, it has nicer keycaps, a more sturdy design and more robust feel. Which I am sure ads to the feel. PBT caps, little pads between the plate and PCB, a thicker shell. That’s been my experience. I use a Dell AT102W at work, and I vastly prefer either AEK to it;...

If you mean clicky as in the sound they make, they aren’t clicky at all: they’re tactile, ‘silent’ switches. The tactile bump is also less ‘sharp’ than on the blues, but still quite pronounced.

All that was posted was his name, which I don’t really see as that bad. Had it been his address, phone number, place of work, &c., then I would see it as a pretty egregious violation of privacy.

I don’t know if there’s a clicky ALPS similar to Cherry blues (which I find far too light and to have a horrible feel), but there are two options: vintage blue ALPS, or the new Matias clicky ALPS-clones.

I've got an Apple Extended Keyboard with orange Alps. How do you like the Alps on that board? Can you compare it to any other Alps? I’ve got both an AEKI, and an AEKII. I mostly use the AEK, because I prefer the orange switches — they feel slightly firmer, and less ‘soft’ than the cream ones used i...

The case on the adapter I bought fell apart upon opening from the shipper. I have it taped to keep it closed. It still works, but I can't say much for build quality. Great photos. Personally, the first thing I took out was the grey locking switch, though; I remap Caps Lock to Control, so having it as a locking switch isn’t ideal.

What did you replace the dampening pads with? Mine could probably do with being replaced.

If this is anything like the Alps Glidepoint keyboard I butchered a while back, the keycaps are pad-printed ABS, and the touchpad itself is pretty poor.

Forgot to add: I think they were new, simplified white switches, but I’m not 100% certain.

VHT is very good. I can take pics of it used on a unicomp (with rit dye for the caps) if you want. I’d be interested in seeing the results. I have briefly considering painting my AEK and possibly dyeing the caps, but wasn’t sure how evenly I could apply the paint, and an uneven finish would drive m...
