Re: Apple Cross Pollination? - East Meets West

Sounds like you have need of an ASK55!

Also, that's the first time I think I have ever seen thin font AEK JP caps. Nice!

Re: Alps Appreciation

Yeah, I've seen it before. My MCK-142Pro has several very weird examples of it, including doubleshot blanks xD . Oh yeh, I remember your video with red plastic in some of the function keys. I guess it's for when they needed to make non-standard symbols for which they didn't have the tooling. Yeah, ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Can anyone identify the keyboard (and/or computer) in attached image, please? The photo is dated 1993 (could be +-1 year or so). Also interested in mouse. And the thing behind the monitor must be the system unit, it seems to have maybe something like translucent dark plastic part on the right of fr...

Re: Model F Queries

Hey all, Once again, the IBM hunt continues and I've stumbled across a couple of Model Fs online. I'm not really privy to a lot of IBM stuff, having Dad (Robin to some of you!) work for CHERRY for the past twenty three years, and so wondered if you guys could help. Being based in the UK, it appears...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Impressive Lbibass, I'm jelly of the SGI and Zenith ZKB2. What's a UEK? The UEK is a board of my own design. _R5A6946.jpeg The SGI granite is one of my favorites, but unfortunately, the ESC stem broke somehow. And the Zenith isn't a zkb-2. It's not made by the company that made Chicony and Monterey...

Re: Alps Appreciation

I figured it was time to start sharing at least some of my collection with the gang here. Unfortunately, I don't have my DSLR with me, so you'll just be getting some iPhone pics. The first board is a shot of my pristine Zenith 163-73-1. Got this sucker for a little under a hundred bucks. The plate h...

Re: Unicomp SSKs are coming later this year

I don't know.. I had an April 2018 Ultra Classic. It was smooth enough and crisper than other Models M. This is my experience with post-2014 Unicomps. They have a thinner rubber mat on the inside, and somehow the switches become lighter and sharper with that particular assembly. It's almost reminis...

Re: Stuff you just bought

I got a Cherry G80-3000HFD from the chunk box, serial 043893 - is it 1993? It is my first MX-blue board. As I have some clones, razer green and outemu blue, this is really different from what I expected. The keyfeel and sound is completely different and rather reminds me on the ALPS SKCM orange or ...

My DC-2014 uses long white switchplate blue Alps, I think they sound better than grey switchplate ones.

That's probably the result of a lot of other factors. There are about 3 distinct variations of blue alps, with different top housings, leaves, springs, etc.

Re: Alps Appreciation

because it uses shitcony caps, which stretch stems. Same with Montery boards. That's actually fixable. Take some pliers and put some cloth/paper towel around them (so that the metal tips don't scuff up the stem) and close the "gap" with the pliers by pushing them closer together. Don't press too ha...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Nice, I had one of those laser branded k102s too, I really liked the badge but I ended up slaughtering it for it's switches. Also on the note of the current discussion, DrClick can you see if those blue alps fit on regular alps keycaps. I had a Copam 430 which is probably one of the rarest blue alp...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Fun fact, there are actually about 3 different kinds of blue alps switches, with different thicknesses of leaves, different tops, and other differences that can affect the feel. I know that Ai03 (not sure if they're on deskthority) have assembled a board out of a combo of the different parts, and i...

You could try putting an EMI shield on top of the controller. Some thin foil or something could work. But try and prevent it from shorting out the components!

Paleolithic Cherry board with unique numpad keycaps. Pad printed, triple-shot or dyesubbed, do you think? (Has doubleshots elsewhere...) Looks to me like it has at least some pad printing on the numpad... Plus one key is very spcl ! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com...

On second thoughts, I am guessing the foam isn't in the best condition. I love how everything I touch ends up fucked. It'll be just ...

The keycaps look like signature plastics, but that doesn't really narrow down anything, because they had keycaps for nearly every single mount out there.
