Re: F104+SSK+122+62+77+50+Ergo orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I'm trying to debug a key that stopped working on my F62. It sounds fine and reseating the keycap hasn't helped, so I downloaded pandrew's utility to look at signal levels. But I get the following message when I click "Signal Level Monitor": "Unknown keyboard (you may need to update the util version...

I'm worried about ripping loose the PCB-mounted USB connector on my compact F62. Has anyone found a clever solution?

I do it with Karabiner (remap Insert to Fn on the host). Don’t know if there’s a way on the board itself.
Same.

Tried the SCUMYC layout for the first time and I start to get used to it.
How do you have the keys mapped? My bottom row is Opt, MacFn, Cmd, Ctrl, Space, CapsLock, nothing, nothing, and MO(1).

Here is my wishlist for special keys. Are any of these a possibility?

1.75u Escape or Esc
1.25u Ctrl
1.25u Cmd
1.25u Mac Command icon (⌘)
1.5u Opt
1.5u Mac Option icon (⌥.)

Would it be possible to sneak in a 1u control symbol ("^") and a 1u Mac command symbol ("⌘")? I would love to have a couple of each in pebble.

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Is there a way to open and close the inner assembly without having to remove and replace all the keys? When I try, some of the flipper always end up displaced or stuck.

(This is not an Ellipse F … trying to keep at least one of my XTs functional so I have a daily driver while I wait for my new F62.)

XMIT, both Linux solutions for SpaceFn are linked in the latter part of the SpaceFn thread on GH: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=51069.350 Ask me again if you can’t find it.

No idea about Windows, I haven’t used it since Windows 95.

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

tentator, I’ve been very happy with setting up SpaceFn in the OS instead of the keyboard firmware. It has the benefit of working the same with all keyboards, including built-in laptop keyboards. Karabiner-Element works well on Mac. For Linux there are two options: one hooked into evdev and one patch...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

That looks amazing, daijoubu! So exciting to see one with nonblank keys! I hadn't noticed the black tape on the barrel plate in the pictures that were posted previously. Does it by chance cover an extra hole, and does the PCB have pads there, to allow for an extra 1.25u key with a 5.75u Unicomp spac...

I'd love to see the dyesub setup and hear about how it works.

If you can figure out how to do the dyesubbing well and share the details, it will usher in a whole new era of keycap design and production for the community, not only for bucking springs but also Topre and Cherry MX.

My wishlist: - 1.5u Fn - 1.5u Caps lock - 1u Caps lock (maybe just the lock symbol on this one?) - 1u Super - 1.5u Super I love depletedvespene's suggestion for a fuller icon-only add-on set and would buy one. Finally, for an ortho buckling spring keyboard I'm hoping to build one day: - 1u tab symbo...

Model F delayed flip/actuation

I have an XT keyboard where some keys actuate a fraction of a second after the spring buckles. The delay is variable but on the order of a quarter second—enough that touch typing is a problem. It's the flipper that flips late: I can hear a second click. I can prevent the delay by pounding the key do...

A clue: the two copper dots are right under the "feet" (pivot points) of the flipper. I still don't understand their purpose in the design. If it were just to lift the flipper a little, they could have made the feet taller. Perhaps the dots make those parts of the PCB smoother or more resistant to w...

Thanks, hasu! Some questions: There is a copper dot above each capacitive pad. Does anyone know what it's for? My XT PCB has them too. There is a pad and hole near the end of each row trace. Are these test points left over from development? Some of the column pads in the bottom layer (http://kishy.c...

PCB for the 50-key IBM 4740

After seeing the XTant, FSSK/FEXT, Model MF, and the 3277 PCBs, I'm wondering what the PCB of the 50-key IBM 4740 keyboards look like. (That's the 10 x 5 ortholinear one). I know that a number of people here have them. Has anyone scanned the PCB or at least taken a good picture? References: XTant: h...

Ellipse, have you decided which keys to print? I believe it's been said before that you will print full 103-key sets for US and whatever national layouts that people have requested, as well as HHKB additions (Control, \|, Fn) and number keys with F1, etc., printed on the front. Is this still the cas...

I use hjkl as arrow keys for easy access when I'm in the middle of typing. I use space as function key when possible, and otherwise semicolon. (There is no usable SpaceFn implementation for macOS.) Semicolon is inferior because it requires holding a key with the weakest finger, but at least with sem...
