Re: WTB: Model F XT factory Cable

I had a couple but tossed them out because they had turned to sticky black goo. As a tangential question, does anybody know how to restore old black plastic that has become sticky and nasty? I am thinking of some handles in particular, such as tools and umbrellas. Yeah that's no good. Maybe you can...

Re: Fortune Systems looooong keyboard with Digitran capacitive switches (conversion)

Interestingly, your typing video sounds very different compared to the other supposedly same keyboard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl-Z9zH7A8Y This one i mean. Any idea whats the cause? Not having the top case can affect the sound. Indeed. Also, it seems like that in the video OldIsNew did not ...

Re: MacBook Pro 2015 - keycaps

Dear all, A long shot I realise but I need some keycaps for a work-issued MacBook Pro 2015. It is a German keyboard layout which I don't like. I'd like to convert it to a UK layout. Of course this has already been done in software but I need about 10 keys or so. I've been looking on eBay DE and eBa...

Re: Fortune Systems looooong keyboard with Digitran capacitive switches (conversion)

All of the pads you circled are on 2u keys or the enter key therefore i do not think they would have had any springs on them in the first case Oh lord, I think you're right. I keep forgetting this keyboard doesn't really use many stabilizers. It uses dummy switches with a double mount instead. Well...

Re: Fortune Systems looooong keyboard with Digitran capacitive switches (conversion)

I was going through the patent numbers on the keyboard and found some interesting images. Probably won't help with the effort but its fun to look at. I will link it here: https://patents.google.com/patent/EP0063800A2/en https://patents.google.com/patent/US4090229A/en It also described the travel dis...

Oh no, I'm getting that horrible feeling I get when I start to realize I did something dumb.

I'll give someone a little prize if they can guess what it was.

Hint: what I did is mentioned somewhere in this thread
Did you blow it up by plugging it into your logic analyzer? ;)

Re: TRS-80 Model 4P

Sounds pretty cool, so just a modern computer with retro look? Most of my systems are ships of Theseus anyway so I gave up trying to figure out what counts as a different computer a long time ago. You should see my desktop - it's an IBM Aptiva that originally rocked a Pentium II that's been consist...

Re: TRS-80 Model 4P

 what are you going to do with the System? It's getting upgraded to modern components - the original CRT is cracked and the motherboard is fried. I doubt it's reparable without cannibalizing another one. I've had it for a long time, used to do my budget in Visicalc on this thing back in high...

You can see under [wiki]Hollow square mount recognition[/wiki] that it is a keycap mount style common to a number of brands. However, I don't recognise those dimensions. Where did you find this keycap? The letter "N" will indicate which mould cavity it came from. Its a weird story, I find this cap ...

Please Help on Identify this Keycap.

Hi everyone, I found this keycap today and I am unable to figure out what keyboard it is from. I know deskthority will be a great place to get information so I register! :D (There is a letter N in the bottom middle, wonder that has anything to do with manufacture...).
