If we did an award like that it would basically go to cindy every year so there really isn't a point

Futaba MD plate thickness?

I have a board that uses futaba MD switches. It is PCB mount and I would like to add a plate to it. Does anyone know how thick the plate needs to be?

Re: Lament for the pingmaster.

A lot of these are good points TBH. I would recommend trying SKCC creams if you think greens are too light. I have a few cream boards and I make way fewer mistakes on them.

I would also recommend moving f-key related hotkeys to their own keys. Macros are super useful for stuff like that.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

That is indeed SKCC. It could very well have green, but all the ALPSaver's I've seen have used cream.
It looks like it is in fantastic shape too!

I've got one of these in the mail that should be here in a few days: https://sgws3productimages.azureedge.net/sgwproductimages/images/2/4-27-2019/752196727131014ad.JPG and assuming I don't get sniped, I should have a calculator in the mail shortly: https://sgws3productimages.azureedge.net/sgwproduct...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

A pic of the switch would be very helpful if you can get it. The layout and those feet remind me of a podworld 292, but the bottom plate and the case design do not match at all.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

The bottom 2 rows look kinda like it but a better view of the space bar would be a great help. The font doesn't look like the skcc boards I've seen, but it does not necessarily rule it out.
A pic of the switch would settle the matter.

[SKCC cream] LANE 700 System hand wire

I have an interesting SKCC board today. I do not know anything about it. and I have not been able to find anything about it online. One of the chips inside had a date code for 1980 and the person JP! bought it from purchased it in 1999, so That gives me a window for manufacture time. That's really a...

Re: ALPSaver [SM-FKB401] [SKCC Cream]

So I used this board at work for something like 2 weeks to really get used to the thing. I adjusted the layout a bit to make it a bit more user friendly (for this user anyway) and I really like typing on it. I feel like I am typing quickly on it and it sounds very nice. The all metal chassis makes i...

Re: Alternate history: what the Enhanced layout could have been if...

If Microsoft can make the windows and app keys standard then I think IBM could absolutely have made insert a system wide lock if they were so inclined. I do like the alternate numpad you've got there that woks with standard insert behavior though, and is what I would go with if I didn't add insert l...

Re: Alternate history: what the Enhanced layout could have been if...

I think the reason the right side of the Enhanced Keyboard layout is so open is because a lot of people criticized the XT for its cramped right side, so IBM made sure to give people room on that side. However, in a hypothetical world where IBM made their decisions to enhance the keyboard differently...

These look like discrete switches though so I don't have anything concrete to go on but My guess is that they are a discrete rubber dome similar to Brother's proto-topre design that they used in some of their electric typewriters. So long as the price isn't terrible I'd say get the board for keyboar...

Re: Let's make the worst layout ever!

I think "doesn't aggravate RSI with frequent use" is a decent metric for what is ergonomic. By that metric I think the default layout is ergonomic enough for most users. That's not an especially useful definition though and its because the term ergonomic is rather broad. All keyboards, to varying ex...
