Re: Would it be possible for someone to recreate the SKCM blue alps switch?

No one is going to make a good ALPS clone at this point. It has almost nothing to do with the expense of switch production. ALPS switches just aren't compatible with any existing commercial products. Take box, romer-g, and unicomp BS. All of them require unique tooling to make the switch itself. All...

[Datanetics DC-50] ABT Apple Keypad

https://i.imgur.com/Z5nQwfi.jpg Just got one of these in the mail. The switches are really nice, lightly weighted with a cool sound and a slight but very noticeable tactile bump. I am not sure exactly what it is about the bump but I really like it. The keypad came in the original box and is pretty ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

I do not believe so. Typewriters tend to not get documented very thoroughly for whatever reason. I was planning to convert mine but the typewriter works so I am keeping it to occasionally use. I use soarers controller when I am reverse engineering a matrix as it is pretty easy to make small changes ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

If I understand their construction correctly there is a ribbon cable that goes from the board to the brains in the back. That cable should have the rows/columns. Since the board appears to have n-key rollover you do not need to hand-wire but you could if you wanted to. If I were you I would wire the...

I am very much interested in this. Would it be outside of the slope of this project to get an ESC and enter keys that are yellow on grey, like an inverse of the yellow arrow keys?

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

Yep, proworld and SMK 2nd gen switches are in the realm of what I really want out of a modern switch, but unfortunately neither are in production. Tactiles seem to be all the rage in the MX world and considering how nice alps switches are in terms of tactility I am surprised no one has come up with ...

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

Anyone have any ideas about why alps style tactile and click Lea eshavent been implemented in an MX compatible switched? It seems like that would be a good way to make a robust switch line that has the advantage of working with existing keyboard designs but so far nothing has surfaced.

Re: Get the PITCHFORK key ready! Microsoft intends to molest the keyboard layouts again.

at least there's a symmetrical bottom row on those things, so while its not the best, it could have been worse. Additionally, things like sleep, wake, power, and all the other keys MS has added, they haven't become standard either, so I don't think anyone besides Microsoft it really going to adopt t...

Re: [WTB] Two 3u space bars + stabilizers

... this was a very good lead. I have ordered 2 POS boards that have 3u spacebars so I should have what I need cap wise, but these being POS boards I am not sure if they have stabs or if they just use multiple switches. I'll update once I find out since I'll either have mu stuff, or I will need sta...

Looking to get two 3u MX mount space bars as well as the required stabilizers. I'd prefer white, yellow, or black if you have it, but honestly I'll take what I can get for the time being.

I have what I was looking for, thanks to kbdfr for the lead

Re: Silver Reed Typewriter [Dome and Slider]

They are not even remotely similar to topic sliders. I haven't looked at the sliders recently, but IIRC the caps are SKCC compatible. I suspect they would fit M9 switches (haven't checked, won't be able to for a few days) but they do not work on MX.

not to start any drama about anything, but that exact M keypad was sold on goodwill's auction site recently for way less that what the seller is now asking for on ebay. They're a very blatantly flipping, and for a ridiculous amount at that. Don't give them any money.
