Re: Wiki Hackaton

It depends on what you are looking for via reviews. I think that there is enough reviews out there but most of them will be the same since a lot of keyboards share the same switches. I don't know if this is really that practical in the long run but it's a decent idea. I was thinking something along...

Re: Wiki Hackaton

Not sure how hard this would be to implement, but I think it would be nice to have a "reviews" tab on the different keyboard pages. Something along the lines of what the Pentax forums does for their lens database. This way there is an organized area for more subjective thoughts on specific keyboard...

Re: Input Club Beamspring-like? new board

I talked to a couple people on Discord that tried the Silo beam switch prototypes. They reported it feels a bit more like click bar and quite a bit different vs the IBM design. I guess that makes sense when you shrink everything down so much. Lets hope they improve the final version before launch. ...

Keyboards banned from work

This thread originates from the following thread: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?p=459331#p459331 where my AT&T 56k 460 was banned from work for being too loud by multiple co-workers Personally, I don't care too much as I like linear boards as well and they are office friendly. I think just t...

Totally forgot about this board as this board was banned from work. Great board though and the switches are something very different for sure.

Re: Reproducing Alps Keycaps (IC)

Given that Tai-Hao has double-shot Alps molds they are using for their ABS keycaps, why couldn't they make double-shot PBT caps with those? Are the molds non-interchangeable for different plastics? Speaking personally, any OEM PBT Alps keycaps that include a modern bottom row would be a win. It's a...

Both have progressive force graphs, but this new switch's is significantly less steep.
Hopefully not as shit as MY though.

Re: ALPS and POM vs. nylon sliders

The thing is we have to make a new mold for every material we want to use, due to the expansion properties of different plastics. I'm definitely not making any final decisions yet but thanks for the tip. We are definitely going to try to make these as accurate as possible but consider possible impr...

Re: ALPS and POM vs. nylon sliders

After reading that long thread and all the "hate" that was left I would like to give some constructive feedback. Proper material research is a good start. That being said just worrying about the slider material at this stage is not priority. POM should be fine none the less but getting accurate mold...

Very true most of these boards that support this plate are out of Group Buy though and the amount of money that they go for on r/mechmarket might hurt your wallet. Yeah. Not a lot of economical options for alps customs. What case did you put your h87alps in? I joined the Duck Orino V3 GB a while ba...

Awesome.
Recently I finally completed my SKCM Blue ALPS Build, but the switches were in pretty bad shape.
It would be interesting comparing used Blue ALPS with NOS White ALPS.
If you clean the switches the best you can then replace the top housing then they should turn out really well.

My personal take on Alps is just that I can't be bothered and don't see the point. I don't see the magic with them, although I haven't exactly tried any NOS specimens so I wouldn't know. Besides, I'm starting to appreciate linear switches more. I miss my Pingmaster, but it was so uncomfortable to t...

Re: Why are alps keyboards not as popular?

The main reason it honestly keycaps. Think of it this way, because GMK has been doing all of the fancy colourways that people love and they can do it in a reasonable time frame the more people want to invest into MX based keyboards. Then you have all the other keycap manufactures that are trying to ...
