Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!
I ordered some Nyogel 760g from eBay (it's not that expensive, I got 2 oz for $15) and it's NLGI Grade 2, unfortunately. I'm currently trying to see if there are any suitable thinners for it. Worst case, I'll just use it on my stabs since it seems sufficient for that.

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!
I wish I knew about this before I lubed my SKCM Blacks with Tribosys 3204 and tungsten disulfide. (Granted, that was actually a good choice, but I would have wanted to try this as well) The one question I have is whether the lubricant may harm the switches over time since it's a hydrocarbon-based gr...

Re: Unicomp SSK coming March 2020
From what I understand, you can just buy a long spacebar from Unicomp and swap it in, removing the spring from the right Windows key in the process, and you have a 103 key model for cheaper. Granted, I still think the 103 key layout is superior and should be standard, but it's cheaper to do it yours...

Re: Tai-Hao Olivette in Alps mount may return!
I'm interested in picking up a Tai Hao set for my AT101W at some point. Are the stabilizers compatible?
If they made any sort of Alps set in Cubic (especially Dolch) I'd be sold instantly.

Re: Mechanical Keyboards Are Thriving Because Apple and Microsoft Don't Make Them
My favorite quote from the article: "Of course, not everyone is ready to solder their own keycaps..." I'm certainly not ready to solder any of my keycaps either.

Re: Four interesting Alps switches
It looks almost like a capacitive Shitsumi Miniature Mechanical! Very funky. I would not shit on Mitsumi. I have got only one of their standard Mechanical tactile switches, but it feels very nice. That's the catch with Mitsumi miniature mechanical. They feel amazing as loose switches, but when you ...

Re: Unpopular opinions thread
Plate spring... I take it you can't touch type at any reasonable speed since plate springs just turn to a mush at any kind of respectable speed. I don't know why anyone would willingly use those mushy switches. Even worse, if you store the keyboard wrong and something runs across the top, the switc...

Re: Unpopular opinions thread
Blue Alps feel like a tactile switch with a clicker. White Alps feel more like a proper clicky switch. Plate spring and buckling spring switches wipe the floor with any clicky Alps in terms of sound and feel anyway.

Re: Model M122 and Soarer's Converter issues
I have one of these boards as well, but it's manufactured for Affirmative. The key legends are a bit different on it though, and when I got it, it was sending unique scancodes. Here's what that board looks like: https://i.imgur.com/L7Dxu1z.jpg One point that might be of interest is that Num Lock is...

Re: Unicomp SSKs are coming later this year
Based on the quality of a Unicomp board I used to have, I'm not expecting much even if these do come out this year. Literally every key felt scratchy on the Uni board when I typed on it for a few seconds. It's not even close to a real model M. And I'm not just saying this because of what I plan to ...
