Any serial numbers or markings that could help identify it?

Re: The Memespring: A Restoration Log

That's an archeologic project there. I think the plastic part are the only thing that can be salvaged. At least the keycaps. But all that was metal there is beyond restoration.

Great job!

There are kits that allow you to convert an old mouse to optical usb one.
Here is a video on how to convert an old Apple mouse, but I guess with a little work it could be used on different old models.

Cherry domes? (G86-62401EUAISA)

I found this keyboard at a thrift store. It says HP on the front, but the back label says "Cherry" so I assumed I had scored a mechanical keyboard. (silly me) It doesn't seem to have switches. It looks like a dome under there? Anyone knows what kind of keyboard it is? I don't want to disassemble it,...

That looks like an ErgoMagic keyboard. The one I found has only three panels instead of four, but they seem to have made different configurations.

There was this eBay thing a while ago of an absolutely bizarre keyboard, but I can't recall what it was called and I can't find it back. It was some kind of hellish contraption with a bunch of small keyboards on stalks of different heights. It looked unbelievable xD . Anyone remember that? Also, do...

Ummmm ... most of the switch plate and ummmm ... yep ... that's about it. Once I decided that I wanted to put these keycaps on it, I needed a standard bottom row and that necessitated ditching the PCB and altering the switch plate and the top of the case the way I did. I still have everything, incl...

Thanks, everyone for your great answers.
I see this is more complicated than I expected. The person who found the keyboards doesn't know much about their origins, he just told me about the phone-like connector. I have to wait until he mails them to me to have more information.

Newbie question.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance.
I know old keyboards with the ps2 connector can be connected to USB using an adaptor.

How about old-style keyboards that have a cable connection that looks like a telephone jack? Is there a way to adapt or modify one of those to use with a modern computer?

Lucent was a division of AT&T. They used comcodes (the cc number on the label). If you want to know what it is used for you can do a web search for the comcode, or if that fails I can give u an email for an old AT&T dealer friend in TX. Thanks for the information. I don't have the keyboards yet, my...

Unfortunately, the missing caps are going to be a problem because they have unique profiles (yes, plural) different from the other model M and F boards. If you can find them, or combine this unit with another donor to get one functional board, I say it's worth trying. As Blaise says, test the capac...

I like the M2 and would restore it myself, but with two major caveats. One, the capacitor almost certainly needs to be replaced as they are notoriously bad. Secondly, rebuilding the keyboard after disassembly is probably the most annoying thing you will ever do in your life. I love dismantling thin...

Nice find and restoration job.

I used to see vintage computer stuff at Goodwill all the times, but the stores in my area stopped selling computer stuff years ago, allegedly because of some environment related law.
