Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I've been testing the new firmware for a few days now and it seems to work perfectly. As an aside, does anyone else happen to have rod stabilizer frustrations? Both my Unicomp and my IBM SSK have pretty flawless stabilizers - no binding at all and they're quite smooth - but my F62's stabs feel prett...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

It's a known bug. If you choose the wrong controller, the program freezes. If it does, just go cmd + opt + esc and kill the program. Then choose the other controller in the list. That worked. Thanks! Now that I have lowered the voltage threshold from 122 to 110, I am picking up several keys that we...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Thought I would order space bars and 1.5U keys from Unicomp and try to fit in an extra modifier. https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/SB https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/mwide Am I right that I need the small space bar pre 7/2013? The 1.5U key comes in "grey" and "pebble". Which of these ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

Dikkus have you tried the debounce 6 firmware? Have you tried on another computer? Also what did you do to the space bar besides re-seat it? And how did you re-seat it? Yes. Updating the firmware was one of the first things I tried. I did try reproducing this on my laptop and ran into the same issu...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

I received my F62 a day ago and have been typing on it since. Initial impressions are very good - it feels great, the construction is solid, and the presentation was well done. The case has some blotches on it, but, as they are not readily visible without close examination, it doesn't bug me so much...

Re: EnjoyPBT Keycaps?

My experience with ePBT is pretty variable. They make some nice looking sets, but *all* of my ePBT sets have had at least 1 key with a broken steam, and warping on keys greater than 1U is very common, with the right shift and spacebar tending to suffer the most from this. One of my left shifts is so...

Nevermind. I was doing something extremely dumb -- I wasn't squeezing the assembly underneath the clips. It's fine now.

Re: Some bolt modding questions

Get a replacement but use this one for practice. Yeah, I suppose since I'm already this far I might as well. I've seen some people say that theirs works fine even with a crack after a bolt mod, we shall see. There's no reason why it shouldn't work - I suppose it's like a crack in the case. It's the...

Re: Some bolt modding questions

So I did the disassembly today, which was relatively painless, but once I got to the barrel plate I realized -- just my luck -- there's already a crack in it. This is before drilling. Re: Some bolt modding questions

I highly recommend using a soldering iron with an old sharp tip to melt some pilot holes for the drill. I have tried that method, but it pushes up a rim of plastic that may or not be balanced. Easier and more precise is to use the smallest spherical burr tip in your Dremel. What do you think about ...

Re: Some bolt modding questions

If you're only doing a partial mod, then a partial disassembly is obviously the only way. Full disassembly gives you the ability to clean the barrel plate better. It also makes it possible to cut the leftover rivets flush. Super dusty specimens are hard to clean between all the barrels. Blue badge ...

Re: Some bolt modding questions

Unicomp—incompetent as they are—do in fact sell SSK barrel plates. They just don't know what they are. https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/CVSET Select: Frame 84 key. I bought one myself. Sold it just recently. As for sawing a regular barrel plate… nah. Case mods are one thing, but the barrel p...

Re: Some bolt modding questions

If you decide to do a bolt mod, I highly recommend using a soldering iron with a old sharp tip to melt some pilot holes for the drill. Use the tip to melt a bit of the plastic for each hole. If you don't, it's very easy for the drill to slip off the smooth plastic and make a janky shredded-up, poor...

Re: Some bolt modding questions

I should have specified, even though it's NIB it's in dire need of a bolt mod. The rivets on the left side are busted as that cluster of keys is entirely unresponsive and not tactile. You can hear the many broken rivets floating around in there, like skittles.

Re: Some bolt modding questions

Learned it the hard way, did my first bolt mod on my SSK (full disassembly) and ended up cracking the barrel plate on the center; pressed the drill to hard on the last few rivets. Luckily the cracked remained in the center and didn't reached either end. When I heard and saw the crack, it hit me, th...

Some bolt modding questions

Hey all, I'm about to embark on my first bolt mod. There are many different guides on the internet insofar as the process is concerned and it seems everyone tends to do things at least a little differently. My question is, would you consider it easier for a first timer to only do a partial disassemb...

[WTS] Leopold FC980C (Topre, 45g)

Like new condition; I got this keyboard a few weeks ago, but have decided that I need the extra money for university this semester. It comes with the original box, and all original accessories as well. Stabs are lubed with Krytox 205 and the rails are (very lightly) lubed as well. https://framapic.o...

[WTS] Tada68 w/ Aluminium Case and Box Royals

Selling my Tada68. Recently purchased and still in excellent condition. It comes with an aluminum case and the switches are Box Royals. The stabilizers are screw-in and are lubed/clipped. It's quite satisfying to type on, but the form factor is just too small for me, I think. https://framapic.org/ez...
