To the organizer, have you shared this on other forums like Geekhack or mechmarket as well? This could help us clear the 5,000 switch order mark and get everyone a nice price reduction.

Re: Regarding the Cherry G80-2511 and the Kaihl Box switches

Oh, and as for your question, honestly, it might be easiest for you to try to desolder it all, remove the switches, cut the diodes if necessary, and then solder new diodes on the PCB In the correct orientation when you add the Kailh switches. Assuming the PCB allows for you to mount the diodes on th...

Re: Regarding the Cherry G80-2511 and the Kaihl Box switches

I say get some nice pictures for documentation and then feel free to put in new switches and caps. Keyboards are for enjoying, that is what I think. Since it seems a unique piece, make sure the original condition is documented for histories sake before changing it, but unlike others I see no problem...

Re: BOX switches

I wish people would just stop fucking about with the notches to generate tactility. As I noted in my review of the BOX Royals, they feel good, it's just crazy that they had to resort to a bump THIS big in order to make a notch switch actually feel tactile. And now, as a side effect, they can't keep...

A lot of people try this, but my experience has been that it is extremely difficult to get it right, both aesthetically and structurally. "Low profile" and "beamspring" in the same sentence

On a more serious note, OP, did your craftsman start from scratch to build this?
You could always build it into the desk so that it is flush!

Re: BOX switches STILL cracking keycaps!

I ordered a Kailh Box Switch tester off of the KBDFans Website which arrived on Friday. I can assure you that the Box Switches (one of every type there is except HAKO) in the tester were all fine. I put some Cherry MX Browns next to them and tested them with the provided clear keycaps that come wit...

Re: Kailh Switch Series, which one is your favorite?

Wodan, why do you think the switch lineup you so defend is called Cherry MX? The "X" stands for 10. There were previous series and revisions within them, to fit different specs or to improve iteratively on previous designs. Sometimes this isn't for the better, either. Think of Cherry MY. Not an imp...

Re: Kailh Switch Series, which one is your favorite?

What's the alternative to iterative design then? Making revisions is how everything works. Computers, cars, every piece of technology will be worked on and updated. I don't get how getting better is a bad thing at all? You're talking about consumer electronics and other more "fashionable" items lik...

That said they would be very nice with some click bar or SMK clicky switches.
Would have... One cracks keycaps, the other is not compatible with the PCB.

Yeah, those SMK second generation switches really are nice! For me they almost feel somewhere between clicky Alps SKCM, and clickbar Kailh BOX switches. I almost got one of these Montereys from a user here about a month or so ago for a good price. Ultimately decided against it because I didn't have ...

Not a terrible deal for a fixer upper F122. Seems rather high to me, but they are getting very scarce. He is a member here, or on GH, or both, I have dealt with him before.
