Re: IBM Model F 122 datachable cable mod

I prefer to retain the original coil cable and use an external soarer converter like this one. it has locking cap/numlock/sclock leds

The crystal footprint is 7x4.1mm. Example: ABLS7M2-16.000MHZ-D-2Y-T
I tried 5032 16Mhz crystal with the original xwhatsit model f controller and it works fine without any noticeable issue. the original crystal spec is just a little bit big.

the adafruit 32u4 breakout board is good if you need a lot of IO. some people flash leonardo bootloader with the breakout board but the original adafruit 32u4 breakout board bootloader is more logical,

Re: <Help> Model M bad tracking?

this kind of mild oxidation inside the membrane is normal for a keyboard over several years and should not cause any problem. I would suggest you clean the contact area that plug into the FPC socket with mild alcohol or pencil eraser(not the one for erasing ink). strong alcohol will remove the silve...

Re: finally the kishsaver (or 60%) has been completed

Few questions: 1. What controller did you use? 2. When changing over to the capacitive PCB, are you using the Model M flipper or Model F? 3. Could you link a seller selling the solenoids? I am using xwhatsit and its solenoid driver. they are assembled by myself. you need to use F flippers as it wil...

Re: finally the kishsaver (or 60%) has been completed

your measurement for the cut is very important. give a bit more room for your first cut and use rough sand paper to sand down the plastic to fit. use static model cement to hide the seam, use fine sand paper such as #800 or higher to smooth the surface. spray and file until you cannot see the seam....

I used dremel to cut the steel plate. I used simple hand saw to cut all the plastic. Except the rotor, I dont have any machine tool to do this.

Re: Turn a model m into a fake ssk

I have tried this twice, the first one was a disaster and the second try was marginally successful but not pretty. Yours is very well done. For the record, the membranes can be folded back and not cut, but the case gets a bit crowded. Also, I might have had better luck if I had used an earlier mode...

Turn a model m into a fake ssk

Hello, my first post on DT. Since ssk is so expensive, an attempt was done to immitate the ssk with an idle blue label. First cut every thing that needed to be shrinked down from 101 into 84 keys. All items were cut with a small hand saw. The difficult part is the keyboard upper and lower case. Used...
