OP did you receive the switches yet?
He's been editing the first post with updates at the bottom.

It says they are shipped (to us) now, although the promised tracking number hasn't appeared on my paypal invoice yet. got the tracking info now.

Re: Fixing Dead Omnikey 102

I'm not the most skilled at this; what do you mean by test the continuity? Use a $10 continuity tester, or a multimeter set to the right mode. Touch pin 1 on one end of the cable and the same pin on the other end of the cable. If they are connected and electric current can pass through, your tester...

Re: Gaming Keyboard - Looking for Advice

I did lots of gaming with a Model M too (not competitively) but I hauled mine out for another go this fall and encountered some problems. I'll have to do it again, and figure out if it's a particular key combo, or if it goes away if I use PS2 rather than a usb adapter. I checked in and I was wrong....

Have you successfully flashed a Pro Micro with avrdude from this machine before? On Windows I use Freematics Arduino Builder https://freematics.com/pages/software/arduino-builder/ Basic instructions in case you care to try it: - load your hex - select Arduino Leonardo (I'm not sure if this is needed...

I used E6000 glue recently to attach a broken pbt Apple M0116 Command key to an abs stem from a Tai-hao cap. Can't guarantee it's going to last, though. Here's a couple of threads with alternatives for both types of plastic. https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=57346.0 https://deskthority.net/viewto...

I've used these trendnet adapters and they're noticeably better for gaming than the cheap ones. https://www.trendnet.com/store/products ... ers/TU-PS2

I think they're discontinued too but you might still find them on amazon or similar.

Oh shit! Looks like past me has accidentally misinformed some folks. IIRC, this was fixed in an update to the converter. I like the WKL layout better. I feel like, after seeing those side gaps in your TKL design, your eye will notice even the smaller gaps in your bottom row. Up to you of course! My searches keep coming up with "floating" case designs like the Vortex Vibe or the Sentrax TK78. I don't love them but it w...

Okay. Perfect, Ill add the omnikey and the F(with controller) I also was told the Pingmaster had NKRO as well? iirc the board is capable of NKRO, but hasu's TMK converter has some limitations: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/9im0mj/my_new_ibm_6112884_pingmaster_just_arrived/e6...

Re: Help with fixing a rubber dome board (Probably the controller)

Not sure how i would be able to test this theory though without bypassing the connection entirely with a wire. As a first attempt, you could just reflow the solder attached to that pin, in case it's just a flaky/marginal connection. I don't know what material the contact pads would be made of, so I...

Re: Help with fixing a rubber dome board (Probably the controller)

So naturally my attention turned to the controller and and whether it might not have proper contact with the board. Doing some more testing though i still couldn't find any issues, it definitely had contact as the ones giving me trouble still worked if i installed the controller the wrong way (Obvi...

Re: Xerox DocuTKL: An Alps TKL

I think I'm pulling the e-brake on using the CLS case for this project. I'm really mystified by these see-through caps and want to do something cool with them. This Xerox project is going to take a lot of waiting and I need something to occupy my mind in the meantime. Sorry DocuTKL; it's not you, i...

Re: Mechanical Keyboard problem

Yeah, I think the most likely problem is that you got 2 boards from the same bad batch.

But if you have a second computer to test with, when you get the 3rd board, try it there first before you plug it in to your main computer.

Re: Gaming Keyboard - Looking for Advice

Up until I got a Ducky earlier this year, I had been playing games on 2KRO Model M's for 20 years, occasionally competetively, without ever having an issue. I agree that NKRO or 6KRO is likely better in order to err on the side of safety, but I think the dangers of 2KRO in games have been highly ov...

Re: One-handed portable keyboards? (other than Twiddler)

There's an expensive Matias one http://www.matias.ca/halfkeyboard/index.php?refID=7 but it's not programmable.

I agree with Lanrefni's suggestion to use half of a QMK compatible split keyboard.

Do you want/need something that you can hold in your hand like the Twiddler?

It is a keyboard, where all existing Cherry MX switches have been put into this thing. The plan is, that maybe after some time she will probably tell me, which switch she likes most. If I was in your shoes, I would have picked one of my favourite boards with a standard layout, and said "I think thi...

Here's a starting point https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07F6B5HY2/ref=pe_3034960_233709270_TE_item (cherry browns or clears are the quieter options, but they're not silent by any means) But if you *really* don't care about the switches, just grab something from Logitech or MS off Amazon that has decent re...

It might help to say what your budget is. "Cheap" is relative when you're talking about the most in-demand kind of alps switches.
