Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?
Why would you need a pullup resistor in a circuit that has no components that would cause an indeterminate voltage? The circuit has a constant connection to Vcc and Gnd. As you stated, the cable is also too short to be a factor. Perhaps you're not familiar with this effect: https://geekhack.org/ind...

Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?
No not diapers, resistors. The eBay seller orihalcon has been Soarers converters for a while now and seemingly the only authorized one. While it worked, I always had one problem with another with it. Missed key strokes, phantom keys if you even wiggle or touch the USB send of the adapter, just oddit...

Re: Post your keyboards that went to hell (and hopefully back)
I'd post my old Matias, which last I used it, typed like "ttthhhhiiissssss". But that never came back, it got chucked when every single key had chatter, and the companies response via email was basically "mechanical keyboards aren't for reliability" which I still have in my inbox because of the abs...

Re: Using aux inputs on Soarer’s to change levels
Ehh, link should work, Imgur doesn't recompress (unless you're on a smart phone, in which case browsers like to load thumbnail sized versions instead for some reason). On the original post from Soarers, get the "docs" download for the version you're using: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t...

Are you referring to layers? If so, I don't see why not, looking at the documentation that comes with the Soarer's converter. https://i.imgur.com/srzFOFk.png
(Sorry about the second monitor showing up in the screenshot, I'm not entirely sure how that happened and I don't have time to crop.)

I mean, if you have an external Soarers converter and you have need to worry about hot plugging, it sounds like you can reach it then. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)

Re: Rebooting a Soarers?
Ah ha! I found a BIOS option which powers down the USB ports when the computer is shut off. "ERP" in Power Management. Does this mean that if I don't have this option on the firmware I have to turn off the UPS each time that I switch keyboards??? Does this happen with all the soarer's (orihalcon, t...

Re: Shit, I fell for it
After reading the back and forth here, OP is the prime example I refuse to sell on eBay, because people don't READ THE DESCRIPTION when I ask them too. No, you are in a binding contract to pay, if you pull out and screw the seller over, you are going to be at fault on the legal side of things, and t...

Re: Rebooting a Soarers?
Ah ha! I found a BIOS option which powers down the USB ports when the computer is shut off. "ERP" in Power Management. When I enabled that, as soon as the PC turns off, the Teensy looses power. But when ERP is disabled, the Teensy remains powered up. This might be the ultimate fix rather than a work...

Re: Rebooting a Soarers?
You could probably just put a toggle switch out through the back of the case. Connect the toggle switch to the power for the teensy. With the switch on the port would be powered and on. With the switch off the power would be disabled and the teensy would be off. If you ever had to reboot the Soarer...

Re: Rebooting a Soarers?
Btw, THIS home made Soarers has been far more reliable than the eBay one (from the one approved seller). I don't think 1k pullups are used in his converters, and it's my understanding that coiled keyboard cables can have capacitance, which is probably the unreliability when wiggling the USB cable. E...

Rebooting a Soarers?
I know the answer to this is probably going to be no, but I built in a Soarers converter into my PC, installing a 5-pin DIN socket in the case, soldered straight to a Teensy after using one of those eBay converter, and finding them to not be quite as stable (moving the USB port causes the keyboard t...

Re: model m leds blinking when overloaded with keypresses?
For my Model F I started out with Soarer's converter which works fine, except with the KVM, but I am now using TMK which seems to work better with the KVM. Out of curiosity, did you try the latest firmware with Soarer? I know he fixed some issues with buggy BIOS's, and that refers to a specific HID...

Re: model m leds blinking when overloaded with keypresses?
Ah HA! My adapter is a Star Tech as well that does the resetting. It is however an older looking version that was designed for Macs (so it has the Apple translucent look of the day), but a Star Tech, and it is the one that resets with certain key combinations. (Up Left at the same time with my AT101...

Re: model m leds blinking when overloaded with keypresses?
A PASSIVE adapter? I am 99.9% certain that model of Model M does not speak USB, so you'd need be using an ACTIVE adapter. Either way, that happens a lot of times with cheap USB adapters. I have several of them that do this very thing. Notice that the LED flashing sequence is identical to when you po...

Yep. It's not chrome like the original, it does have a little texture, but you wouldn't notice it unless you looked closely, and it's of higher quality than OEM anyway.

Re: Model F DIN Repair (Pic heavy)
What DIN5 connector is that? It looks a lot like the plug on my Unitek K151L (a shameless F AT clone), only with a satin finish. I can only imagine it's meant for making premium MIDI cables. It's a Rean branded cable. Meant for audio use but was only 6 bucks shipped on eBay so I couldn't really pas...

Well, I think it looks good. Thanks much for posting this. I was introduced to the world of properly grounding Model F keyboards a few weeks ago and it's really great to go from, "This is terrible! Model F DIN Repair (Pic heavy)
Ok so my Model F XT's phantom keys issue came back, and I finally tracked it down to the DIN connector itself. First, it doesn't even look stock. It looks like the connector was replaced at one point as IBM never used this. Also, it looks like it was soldered by Helen Keller, and far too much heat, ...

(more than the LEDs, that is) This also being how old parallel port devices like zip drives and Ethernet adapters worked on unidirectional ports, using status flags as a 4-bit nibble interface back to the computer. Some keyboards do this and should work through Soarers, but yea like mentioned if it...

Re: Soarer's Converter error.
It's not going to work. Since you're converting between one protocol and another, you lose direct hardware access. So no, that program will not talk to the keyboard through a Soarers converter. For example, I'm typing on a Model F XT, but Windows sees this: https://i.imgur.com/aoCDUY9.png That's not...

Re: Key Strangeness of an IBM Model F
My opinion. The Model F has two problems: * Foam. * Having to sandwich the back plate to the barrel plate. There is NO compelling reason to have that design. Just line up the plates properly and screw 'em together. That's all you need. The Model M has one problem: plastic rivets. Sure, that saves m...
