Re: M122 Lock LEDs OEM look

You are right, I have an earlier 122 without the depression. I was looking at mine and thought he grafted that onto his. Or milled it out... Yea there's several versions of the M122. Later models had it, which I think is the tooling Lexmark got, which Unicomp actually used the LED's for. Unicomp se...

Misread you, thought you said "good luck with that LED problem!" Like sarcastic. You like modern, nothing wrong with liking modern. I don't like it. Everybody got their own thing. The part I am confused about is the depression groove around the lock lights... was that already there or added on? Goo...

That's not even remotely comparable or the same. Yes it's the same keys, but that's where similarities end.

Re: SSK Firing \| when I press Left Shift

So there's two pads actually under an ANSI shift. See my Unicomp for example, it's an American ISO model but with an ANSI left shift (it came this way). The left hole registers LSHIFT, but the right hole that doesn't have a flapper, actually when pressed with a q-trip, presses \| as well. So since y...

Re: M122 Lock LEDs OEM look

I still don't get why people still use odl and potentially trashed keyboards. anyways, good find! I hope you figure out your LED problem Because they tend to work better than a lot of newer stuff? Every single one of my newer mechanical keyboards has chatter of some sort by now after a few years of...

Re: Question about keyboard layouts and scancodes

I'm curious — can you tell that the keyboard actually sent different USB codes (e.g. with USBPcap )? My IBM M122 uses Set 3 and sends different code, but presumably the Unicomp PS/2 M122 uses Set 2 and doesn't. Alright here we go. Re: Question about keyboard layouts and scancodes

I did once make my keyboard send that code, but it didn't work in Linux or MS-Windows. Interesting. It should work in Windows according to MS docs and it should work in Linux according to source — but it will be treated just like ‘normal’ [\|]. If this is what I think, I have a Unicomp M122, it is ...

Re: Question about keyboard layouts and scancodes

2B is shared by both of those physical locations (and they are functionally the same). Of course, that depends on the scan code set - much more info to be found in John J. G. Savard's article: http://quadibloc.com/comp/scan.htm Though, interestingly enough, if I use "gzdoom", and set the / key on m...

ISO keyboard in Switch Hitter (funny how that key registers as \ in switch hitter, but is physically the one you mentioned).

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Btw, don't worry orihalcon, not asking for a refund or anything like that. In fact I'd be happy to work with you in any way shape or form. I just don't know how to open up the USB shell, and don't want to use an xacto knife, I'm on blood thinners, that could have the potential of ending badly for me...

It looks like DB5 and DB6 are being used as outputs here.
Correct, XT protocol keyboards are unidirectional. You cannot speak to the keyboard at all, they are purely outputs only.

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Pull up is different on clock in the keyboard because if you look closely, clock is going to INT and DB5, while data only goes to DB6.

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Interesting, you have an 8049, mine has an 8749. Generally the same but mine is technically erasable and reprogrammable. Maybe they are slightly different in their high/low thresholds? I assume you're basing that on the fact that mine is in a plastic package because I can't read a part number on it...

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Wait what? Mine just read meg ohms. If they are enabled in software then presumably they are not actually resistors at all but transistors used to behave a like a resistor and are only turned on when power is applied. Funny you mention that, I was having a weird MOSFET feeling based on how the resi...

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Adding those two 1K resistors caused it to stop working altogether. Of note, there was already about 2K resistance between +5V and the clock and data lines while unplugged without any modifications... Where did you measure this? At the keyboard, unconnected to the MCU? I had not considered the KB a...

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

On the boards that aren't working reliably without resistors with my converters, what is the resistance you get when you measure between +5V and clock and +5V and data? Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Why would you need a pullup resistor in a circuit that has no components that would cause an indeterminate voltage? The circuit has a constant connection to Vcc and Gnd. As you stated, the cable is also too short to be a factor. Perhaps you're not familiar with this effect: https://geekhack.org/ind...

I highly doubt 2x 1k SMD resistors are going to take up much more space.
As for Soarer, it's a shame he disappeared, and all I can hope is that he's ok. But I understand if people need a change of life.

No not diapers, resistors. The eBay seller orihalcon has been Soarers converters for a while now and seemingly the only authorized one. While it worked, I always had one problem with another with it. Ehh, link should work, Imgur doesn't recompress (unless you're on a smart phone, in which case browsers like to load thumbnail sized versions instead for some reason). On the original post from Soarers, get the "docs" download for the version you're using: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t...
