I made my earlier comment before watching the video and was pleased to see that I'd independently come to at least some of the same conclusions. The definition of Mechanical being when the key doesn't have to bottom-out to activate doesn't hold water either. I'm typing this on an HP KUS0133, which I...

My Computer History.
The first computer I had, assuming you consider it worthy of that title, was a Sinclair ZX81 which didn't have a keyboard in any meaningful way. That was followed by a ZX Spectrum +2 whose keyboard didn't leave a lasting impression, probably because I'd nothing to compare it to. I didn't have that f...

It ain't bust so don't fix it. As a User I can't find any fault with the current software, though obviously there may be problems of which I'm un-aware. I have been a member of several forums on different subjects over the years but haven't stuck around on most. So far this is about the best I've co...

I'm no expert and you're braver than me to be doing it on Windows; I use Linux for this type of thing. Even then I still had trouble when I made my Soarer's Converter and found that if I re-named the file called .avrduderc to something else AVRDude then worked fine. See if there's a similar file on ...

I can't really comment further as I don't know the size of the cap you are testing. I've tried checking new ones for ESR and can't get a reading on ones smaller than 0.01µF. To put it simply a capacitor lets AC through it but blocks DC. As they get old they can start to Leak, ie let DC through. If o...

The nav-keys between the Enter button and Num Pad are a waste of space. I always have the Num Lock off and use the navigation functions on those keys. I don't do a lot of figure work and when I do want to enter a number use the top row. I learnt to type on a combination of mechanical typewriters and...

An ESR meter is only useful for testing electrolytics. The main problem that paper ones develop over time is electrical leakage, which would pull the pins down. For what caps cost you may as well just change them; to accurately test them they need removing anyway so its as easy to fit new ones as pu...

This is interesting — a non-IBM/Lexmark/Unicomp keyboard that's allegedly buckling spring: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223237079418
Could it be a re-badged Unicomp?
If that's after a "thorough clean" I'd hate to have seen it before.

I'm afraid that I'm out of ideas. You did the hard part, flashing the code, fine and the wiring is simple and looks correct from the photos. Have you tried HID_Listen with it connected? That would show if the keyboard is sending any sort of output even if the OS can't understand it for some reason. ...

I've had a closer look at your screen-shot and spotted that you flashed the original firmware. With that the reset line is inoperative on a ProMicro.
On page two of this thread post187874.html#p187874 is a modified version which enables it on Hole 10.

When you say nothing happens do you mean that the computer isn't even aware that a USB device has been plugged in? Windows will make a noise and you can check on Linux with lsusb If it is detecting but not working the only thing I can suggest is checking the wiring, again, remembering that the diagr...

"Decent" is subjective: I've got several dome keyboards that aren't horrible but I wouldn't particularly recommend them either. They simply do the job without causing thoughts of how good/bad they are. The best, which I would wholeheartedly recommend, is my IBM KB-8926. As I said in another thread, ...

Actually, I didn't realise it was rubber-dome until I took it to bits to clean. I used an Amstrad PC for twenty years so my idea of what constitut...
