Re: IBM Model F AT modification
So, I came into a Chicony 5160 AT with blue alps. The switchs are great but the case is uninspiring. On the other hand I have a broken IBM model F AT in the big basket of broken keyboards. You can probably see the wheels turning. So.... anyone ever put the innards of such a thing in a model F AT ca...

Look at about 59 seconds in, turn your head to the left, and see a familiar logo.
Obviously some sort of Keyboard Konspiracy at work here!

Re: Ah, this unique beauty!
Ebay gods were smiling down upon me. This arrived today. The F9 key is missing and the switch is broken, missing the slider. Thinking I'll just buy a replacement switch and replace the guts. See if that works. My first blue alps board and it feels amazing. Using Soarer's USB converter. Had to move ...
Re: Blue Alps
I'm up to four blue alps boards, luckily all in very good condition. It's like a disease, I want more ![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
Two gold badge Omni keys, a Computerland branded board, and an Acer KB 101A. I still love buckling springs, but.....YUM!

Re: Alps Appreciation
Just recently I got a Computerland badged board with blue Alps in great condition.
That takes me back....wavy lines....my first computer, a Commodore Vic 20,
was bought at a Computerland with the prize money the physics at my University gave me. I guess that was my very first keyboard too.

Re: Dirty Alps
I really lucked out not long ago. I saw an Acer Kb 101A on ebay and taking a big chance paid a hefty price....the luck was that although the key caps had all kinds of crud on them the switches are in excellent condition. This with the two Northgate Gold Badge boards are my small but much loved blue ...

Re: When you finally reach endgame.
Very nice! Those are near divine :-) have you tried them ? Oh yes :-) I got one from Orihalcon :-) I'm not 100 percent sure, but back when I was in grad school there was a room full of terminals that connected to the IBM mainframe. I remember being very impressed with the massive keyboards; I think...

Yes, that seller has had some very neato beans things in their storage. I ended up getting a nice SMK board from them.

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
I got this for cheap on ebay. Flimsy build, I'd guess it's mostly plastic, but the switches are so obnoxiously clicky it's sort of hilarious. I've looked around a little but couldn't find anything on it. https://imgur.com/a/4l0ECgc I bought one of those brand new for the Alps-mount, Tai Hao doubles...

That got me thinking...there's an old broken Matias board in the wicker basket
of keyboards that have something wrong with them. I took it apart and there were
a pair of lovely space bar clips...a bit of messing about and fixed space bar![Smile :-)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
Thanks for all the help guys!

Thanks! If my digging through the spare parts boards doesn't work out I'll have a look at that.abrahamstechnology wrote: ↑07 Apr 2019, 19:50Matias sells Alps stabilizer kits. Although I recommend filing a tiny bit off the bottom so they don't bottom out on the plate (quality of them seems to have dropped recently).

Re: Acer KB 101-A
The KB-101A uses standard wire clips, they are the predominant type of stabiliser clip on Alps-based boards. You should have no difficulty getting hold of some. Pretty sure some guys in the US can help you out with some; if not, let me know and I'll send you a few :) . Congrats on the purchase! Tha...

Acer KB 101-A
Recently I snagged an Acer KB 101-A. It looked really dirty in the ad so I knew I was taking a chance on it. It arrived, and I tentatively checked out how the switches felt. YUM! Dirt and crap had accumulated between the keys but it looks like none had made it into the switchs. I vacuumed the hell o...

Hey guys, how about this one?

The switchs are interesting, there is a distinct soft click which happens shortly before bottoming out. It's actually got a pretty nice feel.

I'm using a model F XT at the office right now.
