Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Shit man. This is a project here. I would say try and find a product called Evapo-Rust. I use it all the time on springs, screws, etc. It works like magic (chelation) and isn't harmful to metal like acids and you won't have an issue with flash rust after derusting. Acids tend to take good metal alo...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

I also face the intractable problem of the rusty springs, no helpful solution after searching whole forum.

Tried vinegar and WD40 also, still like shit.

Alright I'll volunteer - just PayPal me $3500 or so for proper plane fare, maybe $2500 for an at least decent place to stay, and also whatever a tolerable sedan costs to rent for a few days in Italy (I figure $1500 or so should be good) - and I'll check it out and see if I can rescue any of those b...

Yes, that picture is from a geekhack thread on fitting an F122 chopped pcb in an XT case. To make this into a guilt-free mod kit, we'd reuse the original bottom metal plate of the XT and just work on a new custom PCB + top barrel holder plate + mat. I now see what you meant about the curved plate, ...

Seems the pic comes from Orihalcon with a f107 board cut and mod, but its still a good idea. I think there must be someone who could finish the PCB design if even the 3277 pcb has been completed. Xwhatsit could still take over the controller job also, but can't think of how to get the appropriate cu...

I really don't think there is any necessity to talk like this, everything here, including laughing or laughing back, doesn't make sense at all. No one even would win, or change others' mind, so just stop and talk more about boards here.

Just be some reasonable guys, plz.
