Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Managed to get another F XT from the same seller. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. It might be even more rustier than the first. The top of the barrel plate has thick corrosion and the back plate is bent. If he gets any more I'm definitely asking for a lower price... Imao, really need post some pics to show...

Seems this is a fascinating work full of patience and tricks, I also need some restoration to do for my coming beam, hope this's the best reference so far. Thanks. Re: Beamspring 3278 XWhatsit and sporadic random keypresses

I played around with the firmware and patched it with the debounce filter that was provided by joc some months back (attached the original zip file). xwhatsit_model_f_firmware_update_0.9.1.zip I made some modifications to the Makefile and compiled the firmware for the Rev4 of the Beamspring keyboar...

Re: Beamspring 3278 XWhatsit and sporadic random keypresses

In the last month I replaced my AT's controller with xwhatsit. When I was testing the keys, a weird bug shows if I press the keys quickly, some other keys triggered also. I checkesd the PCB and grounding wire carefully, no problems found. I guess maybe the xwhatsit itself got some problem that havn'...

Re: IBM Model F XT restoration (Work in Progress; lots of images)

Shit man. This is a project here. I would say try and find a product called Evapo-Rust. I use it all the time on springs, screws, etc. It works like magic (chelation) and isn't harmful to metal like acids and you won't have an issue with flash rust after derusting. Acids tend to take good metal alo...
