Re: Need help with beamspring restauration

Hey! I just got veeery lucky and acquired a beamspring keyboard in amazing condition compared to some photos I've seen online. However, there's still some work to do. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience doing restorations, hence I want to be as careful as possible so that I don't break a...

Re: How do I make Locklights work with an XT converter?

 Mine was in good shape overall and thankfully I didn't damage any of the caps during retrobrighting. Seems to work now without any issues, still don't really know what the problem was but well... Have you ever looked into options for custom caps for this board? I like the stock ones, but u...

Re: How do I make Locklights work with an XT converter?

Ok, I suppose it was an issue with the AT-XT-switch. After I opened up the board I couldn't find anything unusual. The capacitors are still ok, so are the LED's. The locklights started to work again after I switched around a bit inbetween the modes and now they even work with my Soarer's (in both AT...

Re: How do I make Locklights work with an XT converter?

This kinda sucks. After I switched the converters around I went back to the normal adapter and it appears to be an issue with my locklights. All of a sudden they stopped working.

How do I make Locklights work with an XT converter?

Hey guys, I recently got a Unitek K151-L (MX-Version). The board is XT-AT switchable and works flawlessly with a normal adapter. Still, I was hoping to use it with a converter due to the rather unusual AT layout. Changing the position of some keys, adding some layers etc. I have one of Orihalcon's S...

Re: [WTS] Hall Effect switches Zbrojovka Brno 262.12 keyboard - working on AT

I had good experience with dry PTFE spray on those switches. Used it on the spacebar of mine and the difference is night and day. The binding 'issue' stems from the design of the stabilizers on these boards. The 2u keys (for example Numpad 0) use two switches. One functioning, sensing unit on the le...

Re: Custom Case for Zenith ZKB-7 aka Eazy PC

How are they justifying this? Are they saying it's the vendors' fault for not putting enough protective stuff inside? Well, it clearly wasn't broken before they carried it to you. So what is that "insurance" for anyway? This is so unfair, smh. I'd love to see a prototype, good idea with the split ca...

Re: Custom Case for Zenith ZKB-7 aka Eazy PC

I followed Hasu's instructions for his XT converter. It's a Teensy mod similar to a Soarer's converter with two pullup resistors. Normal Soarer isn't working with this board. All in all not too complicated to convert :)

Re: Asking about Retrobriting wob og cherry caps

If you wanna be extra careful, use H202 with a lesser percentage or dilute the stuff you have, use a heat-bath with only warm, not hot water instead of UV light, and check every 15 minutes or so. I've ruined some priceless vintage caps with retrobrighting and that's the way I'm doing it from now on,...

No experience with those caps specifically, but I'd always be extra careful with retrobrighting colored plastics. Very easy to overbleach/discolour them.

Re: Looking to try a Model F (or a switch)

Funny enough, I only typed on keyboards with a standard layout until I got my Model F. Now the XT-Layout is my favourite and I'm almost exclusively using XT boards. :D Have you tried floss modding it? Supposedly that helps a lot against the pinginess without changing keyfeel too much. Many people pr...

Don't like Matias too much either. Except for some reason their linears (the red ones), but with the dampeners removed. They feel so different compared to the rest of the Matias bunch. Superlight and supersmooth, but still "ALPS"-feel linears. If it wasn't for their reliability issues, I'd have alre...
