IBM 5251 Beamspring with black Selectric ii caps
I bit the bullet and bought a very junky selectric ii with beautiful black caps. I took the number row and WASD to put on my 5251. Thought? I think it looks pretty darn nice.

Can you add keys to a 5251?
I was wondering if I remove the tall + on the 5251 if I would be able to add two switches and use three 1u keys instead of the tall 3u +? Does the pcb have traces to those pads? Also, has anyone replaced the dummy switch in the spacebar top make it even clicklier?

Has anyone swapped a 5251 keycaps with black selectric caps?
I found a cheap black selectric for sale locally and I was wondering what it might look like to take the black caps off and put them on a 5251. Has anyone done this?

I need a hobby to distract me from my hobby? Escapism isn't good.. I tried that and now I have a very expensive motorcycle hobby, vintage computer hobby, and vintage mech keyboard hobby. It's also fun when one group, i.e, the vintage computer guys hate you for also being part of the group that buys...

Is this what the hole in the 5251 is for?
20210721_202021.jpg I finally pulled the trigger but at $1450 cad it's the darn most expensive non motorized single thing I've bought. It needs some love and some foam but I'm very worried about pulling off the spacebar. The field + key broke part of the stem when I pulled it off but still makes en...

Re: Using a Model M spacebar on Model F AT/122
The easiest way is to slip 2 washers over the "V" and ",<" barrels. Wcass discovered that 7/16" SAE washers work quite well. Their weight is just right, and although they may interfere with the bottom millimeter of key travel, it is hardly noticeable. I don't know what the metric equivalent would b...

Using a Model M spacebar on Model F AT/122
Does anyone have any advice on using a model M spacebar on an F (non xt)? I emailed Joe at ModelF keyboards and he suggested this adapter but didn't have advice on installation. I was directed to ask here. I would like to be able to hotswap model M spacebars since we can't really buy replacement F o...

I painted my dinged up F122 gray
I've had this f122 for a few years and it's been my daily at work. I recently painted an old terminal M to see how the color would match up to an industrial and I Was happy. I painted my F122 this weekend and changed up a few other things. I think it turned out nice! Thoughts?

Has anyone ordered custom keycaps from Unicomp for the Model f or m?
I'm looking at ordering a set of colored and a set of blank grey keys from unicomp for my model f, but the high cost to buy and ship to my country is making me iffy. Does anyone have any pictures of their keyboard with these keycaps so I can see if they look good?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hello all, I recently ordered two adapters on eBay for my XT model F. One of the adapters randomly died altogether and I was sent a replacement. The replacement arrived, but when I plug in any of my Model Fs, it doesn't work. In HID I am getting R06 WFE for all key presses, and I noticed that the Ke...
