While the price of goods in the US are the cheapest in the world, postage and shipping prices are among the most expensive. Unicomp is not in the business to attempt to profit from shipping charges - shipping charges continue to be raised by all carriers, public and private. The actual shipping cha...

Hey, can we apply this setup to model f xt running by pro micro soarer's converter? If yes would you please provide information about wiring? Thanks. No, because Soarer's converter does not have a PIN set to trigger a signal for the Solenoid. And because Soarer's converter is not open source, we wo...

Now I want to drill a hole in the head of who made this. Whoever did it was ahead of times. There's your vintage RGB keyboard right there! The seller is obviously bonkers for demanding 1300 as a starting bid. That is a good example of keyboard retro-illumination, very ahead of its time. RGB of yest...

Re: Input Club Beamspring-like? new board

Newbie speaking here, but looking at the picture given to show off their 'beam spring switch' it looks to be nothing like a beam-spring, and very much like the MX design. Doesn't a switch need to have the mechanism of a beam spring in it to be called a 'beam spring switch'? (I'm thinking of the IBM...

Last time I checked we were free to discuss anything we want? Re: Coming Soon - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

Adding a solenoid driver (adjustable for different solenoid voltages and currents), not only an expansion header, would be extremely good. A relay costs less than 1 eur and a DC DC Boost converter also costs about the same. So for just 2 euros in additional components you can drive a solenoid. If y...

Re: Coming Soon - Through Hole Universal Model F and Beamspring Controller

There are 24 pins for columns and 8 sense positions for rows on the PCB. So it's truly universal for all Beamsprings and Model Fs out there. Support for additional rows/columns will need a change to the PCB, but can be done.

Re: IBM Model M keyboard search

If keys don't register, check the area for missing rivets. You can only do this by opening it up. If you are missing only a few rivets then there is no need to bolt mod. Bolt modding is the most talked about mod on a model M, yet 99 percent of model Ms will never need a bolt mod.

Re: MODEL M122 IBM .. I assume from the 90's

Connect a different keyboard. Take any old PS2 keyboard and wire up the ProMicro to check if the ProMicro is at fault. If the other keyboard works, the controller on your Model M is dead. One of my model Fs (not M) had a similar problem, turned out the orignal controller was dead. I didn't have time...

No, because soldering a USB C connector is even more difficult than the shift register.

Also how did you conclude that micro usb is not reliable??

For those of you just tuning into the post, this is the modified Xwhatsit controller for the model F keyboards. Ellipse's new model Fs use this controller. This controller is the exact same thing Xwhatsit made in terms of schematics, but has a significantly smaller footprint (almost half the origina...
