Re: Looking for a full-sized keyboard with ISO-DE layout and media keys (and silent red switches)
I am pro-wired all the way, don't want to have to charge yet another device. All BT keyboards I've seen were slower, outright unreliable at times … That said, if wireless is important to you there's always the K-series (or other vendors, obviously), in this case the https://www.keychron.com/products...

Renders just leaked … The Keychron Q6 will be released in a knob version (both ANSI and ISO) on June 21st 2022. https://scontent-vie1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/285451447_768267617670127_7594556802447869720_n.jpg?_nc_cat=106&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=dbeb18&_nc_ohc=el2cjzFFQ2sAX-4Udee&_nc_ht=scontent-vie1-1...

Re: Looking for a full-sized keyboard with ISO-DE layout and media keys (and silent red switches)
Probabaly not. But since the Q3 already comes in ANSI and ISO variants, with and without knob, I remain somewhat optimistic …
(That said, you certainly can't trust Q, even though he was pretty disappointing as of late in ST Picard.)

Re: Looking for a full-sized keyboard with ISO-DE layout and media keys (and silent red switches)
According to /r/MechanicalKeyboards/ where a user claims to have contacted Keychron's support, all Q models will get ISO layout, too. I must say the Q6 ISO looks very tempting. A knob version as with the Q5 shown here … https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0059/0630/1017/t/5/assets/keychronq51800layout...

I feel your pain: that's exactly how I feel about ANSI Enter. (Big Ass Enter is weird, but workable. ANSI Enter? No siree, Bob.) Ah, muscle memory.

OpenVMS Keyboard?
In my town, somebody is offering an “OpenVMS Keyboard” for cheap (Product number AB552A). A quick Google search didn't turn up much, does anybody know what switches or keycaps I could expect? It's nice enough looking, I suppose: https://cache.willhaben.at/mmo/9/453/818/429_-215882039.jpg Also, it do...

As a lawyer and self-professed geek, I'm heavily into all sort of words, both spoken and written … I like books and poetry, cryptography¹ and good typography, LaTeX and fonts and calligraphy and vintage printing and fountain pens. Why should I not also like good keyboards? ¹ Secret words, so to spea...

Re: XMIT Reviews: Topre Realforce R2 (PFU Limited Edition)
May I jump in here for a second? You, having seen it's “innards” as it were, are most likely able to answer my question: Is it possible to convert it to ISO layout, i.e. are the necessary holes etc. in the PCB in place? I have been looking into these boards for a while, but ANSI just won't cut it fo...

I quite like how the "key caps use LCD displays for all the vowels, so they can automatically adjust over the years to reflect ongoing vowel shifts while allowing you to keep typing phonetically." Clearly a lot of thought went into the design process.

Re: Mechanical boards that are/were made /marked towards *nix?
What exactly makes a keyboard a "Linux" keyboard? The absence of a Windows key? If I change my Win keys to "Super", "OS", "System" or that Tux penguin logo, does it become a Linux keyboard?

Copy, Cut and Paste use the letters C, X and V. I am not aware of a national layout that would position these letters in a different place. (Ctrl-Z is a different story, but that's got nothing to do with INS.) F Keyboard BDS 5237:1978 ANSI X4.22-1983 Obviously I was talking neither about "alternati...

... as much as I'd like it to be otherwise, you're gonna need to keep Num Lock around (albeit as out of the way as feasible). I do? I mean, I suppose it could live in a secondary layer somwhere, but I really don't need it. I have long since configured my keyboards to output the exact same keys in b...

[Insert] toggles between Overwrite and Insert modes in Word, but also in other programs where it is even more useful. Good for you. If you are using those programs, this is obviously an important key for you, and you will want to keep it in your layout. (Not that there weren't three or four other w...

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!
(there is one I really dislike, though — guess which) I dunno, the 2U Escape? One thing, though: that 1U Alt and the "offset" split space bar strike me as needing a do-over. I'm sure you're right. At this point I'm just throwing stuff around and see what sticks ... the idea was to have a fully symm...

Well, I do. (And I might be a newbie here at DT, but not to computing in general.) It's the most useless key on my keyboard by a wide margin, and that includes SysRq and ScrollLock, both of which have their uses. YMMV.

Re: Post a picture of your ideal keyboard layout!
I was toying with the idea of a non-staggered, fullsize layout. A 100% Ortho, if you will, with a few nods to Ergodox. (Pardon the German layout, it should be easy to adapt to local needs.) All keys are 1U and 2U, with the exception of the Enter key which, to the best of my knowledge, does not exist...

Actually, pricing is very competitive (dare I say good...) at the quantities we are selling. I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree here. No hard feelings. Not sure if I mentioned it already in this thread, but if Mykeyboard.eu pricing is unfair for your region or you feel you are getting a raw...

You included postage to your Europe price but not to the US one. Actually, I did not. I compared prices as quoted on the respective websites. In fact, mykeyboard.eu charges additional shipping fees, between 0 € (Belgium only) and 31,50 € (Iceland), depending on country. (For Finland it's an additio...

They are beautiful, but man are they expensive ... Europeans seem to be getting a particularly raw deal. The bare minimum for my daily driver (Alphas + TKL + ISO + NorDE) would set me back 140 bucks in the US. The same set comes to 176 €, which translates to 197 $ or so. Yes, US prices don't factor ...

Re: Blue or Brown Switch ?
Yes, there is a difference. The MX Brown is somewhat softer and silent, which the MX Blue is not (i.e. it has an audible click) Which one is better? Nobody can tell you that, it all depends on your needs and preferences. Give them both a try, would be my suggestion, see which one you prefer.

[WTB][EU-AT] Alps Caps
I am looking for Alps keycaps in black, white or grey. Original set is double shot, but will consider anything. ISO UK preferred, but again, any offers considered. (If you don't have a full set, let's talk anyway. I need some keys more urgent than others.)
