Re: [WTB/WTT] IBM Beamspring 3278 A02 or 3279

So I was the one who bought the keyboard. If it makes you feel any better, there never was a keyboard to be had. The seller is listing all of his ebay auctions on Chinese sites as well. Even though I bought the keyboard, the seller canceled my order a couple hours later, before money had even left m...

Mine would be the 4978 beamship thing.

I think I might just make my own and lift the keys from a displaywriter or something.

Re: buckling spring tshirts

These crystals are highly sought after and will raise the price of a keyboard by $50-100 easily. They're more accurate than the normal time keeping piece in the later keyboards and of a higher quality.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds

I don't think I'd say they're mentally ill, but I'm surprised how much someone will pay for something that has such limited functionality, since if you really want extra keys that kind of defeats the point of the unsaver. Don't most unsavers not have the port for the extra numpad as well?

Re: M122 Lock LEDs OEM look

Ah, I see. I was under the impression that we were discussing the model where the lock lights were already etched out (originally the Model M 1397000). The version of the top case with the line around where light lights might go was designed by IBM (not Lexmark or Unicomp) in the early 90's and is c...

JLC would probably do a great job making it, and I bet kelvinhall could design it for jack.

Who are JLC and kelvinhall? Are they members?

Best chance for PCB would be to have a new one designed or printed. For barrelplate and backplate, would also probably need to get them machined.
Unfortunately getting the parts for the restoration might be difficult.
Where would you recommend as far as designing/printing new PCBs?

Actually, if you have a passive adapter, or change the cord so it has a ps/2 or normal 5 pin din plug windows will natively support these keyboards.

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Is there even a way to look inside one of these orihalcon's? I assume the converter is on the USB side do the over sized plug. I'm not even sure they implement reset either, which I made sure to make an option on my home grown one should I ever require it. Yes, the converter is inside the moulding ...

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

If it's true that orihalcon's could be better, what alternatives are there for the model f at and xt? Alternatives that readily come to my mind are xwhatsit, DMA CommonSense, and the "through the hole" (xwhatsit) converter. Soarer's is the easiest to get ahold of though because there's always a sta...

Re: Do the orihalcon Soarers have pull ups?

Why would you need a pullup resistor in a circuit that has no components that would cause an indeterminate voltage? The circuit has a constant connection to Vcc and Gnd. As you stated, the cable is also too short to be a factor. From the symptoms you describe it seems likely that you actually have a...

Oh, no, that sounds like a pain in the rear for sure. I was just saying it looks pretty clean all things considered. I don't see any rust or dirt or anything. I think once you get the switches desoldered and cleaned and put back together it will be a nice keyboard.

You could try pressing down the flippers carefully with a bent paperclip while the keycaps are off to directly test to see if the membrane is working properly...but if nothing happens still It's possible you may have to open up the keyboard and clean it. Or it might still have some residual liquid t...

No, you are in a binding contract to pay, if you pull out and screw the seller over, you are going to be at fault on the legal side of things, and the seller has every right then to go after you to collect. Actually you are not in a legally binding agreement and you can back out. It's just against ...
