Computer Devices Teleterm 1030
Hello all. I see that JP! has one of these as well. Wanted to share my pics from my latest local purchase. From 1972 or 1973, likely the oldest in my collection. Not too many made that are older than this right? Please chime in with things that are older than this. I'd love to see the list. Image Ga...
Re: Raytheon
kralcifer, do you still have this Raytheon keyboard nearby? Can I ask you to make side shots of it, and, if possible, to take a few basic measurements of its dimensions? I wonder if I would be able to reproduce its look in custom handmade keyboard. Hi Diamond. Just saw this. DMA has it at the momen...

Oh. I didn't realize that the Wyse had different sets. I just looked at a previous Wyse in my collection and the keycaps are super thin. Thank you for pointing that out!

Re: Vintage keyboard haul
Maybe we should donate my NIB kaypro and your NIB dot matrix to a worthy museum? I have mixed feelings about many museums tbh. Museums are an expensive endeavor and many times fail to get started or eventually end up going out of business even in good times. A lot of this commodity / mass produced ...

Re: Vintage keyboard haul
Pretty sweet haul and a nice variety of switch types. I scored a Kaypro 1 myself along with a couple extra keyboards a couple years ago. I even have a new in box dot matrix printer with it. Pretty cool you have one new in box. Kinda of funny though the model 1 was one of the last ones they made rat...

Well it was time consuming and tedious to document but it was also fun. TL;DR - Alps SKCM Blue, Omron B3G-S amber, Alps SKCM Orange, Buckling spring, 2 vintage Cherry MX black, 4 sets of double shot alps keycaps, 6 total Alps keyboards, Stackpole, 2 Space Invaders Here's the Imgur post: https://imgu...

I turned down epson Fujitsu peerless, I have enough. There were a bunch of FKB4700. I turned down NMB, don’t particularly like them. :o :( Haha. I posted that so people would tell me why that may have been a mistake. Feel free to tell me why I shouldn’t have passed on them. It was actually quite a ...

Vintage keyboard haul
Hi all, I had the good fortune of stumbling upon the biggest collection of older keyboards that I’ve personally seen to date. Here is a teaser picture. I purchased this entire pile for $550. https://i.imgur.com/tlHNqLG.jpg I spent 3 hours going through the inventory. I bought about half of what was ...

Re: DEC LK201
I used a Dell crap modern rubber dome as as my sacrifice The original Dell Quiet Keys (before they started making them in China) were actually some of the best rubber domes. Oops! I think I did sacrifice a decent one. It had the individual rubber domes like my SGI keyboard has. says Made in Thailan...

I tried sandblasting for the first time earlier this week and that went fine. Last night though, man... Here's the fiasco from last night in detail: I shook up my color and added it with the bonding agent and shook that and then when I went to poor it through the cheap paper cup 150mm strainer into ...

Finally did my first cerakote last night. It was a fiasco but the result is promising. I think it could have great results in spite of my DIY setup. Stabilizers vs Switches
Are stabalizers originally a way to save money on additional switches? Seems like it would have better to simply place a neutered switch or two for the stability. For cherry mx I'd imagine you just cut the contact legs from the bottom of the additional switches. The reason we likely can't do that to...

Re: Epson Q703D-AA conversion
It's a 9 inch dual ended cable so if this end goes bad I have lots of wire on the other end! I had the amps too limited at .1A. I upped the max to 1A and now I'm seeing different behavior. Now, with 9V and 1A turning it on results in 9V and .16A. Same with 12V. I measured the voltage via solder join...

Re: Epson Q703D-AA conversion
my DC power supply doesn't mention bipolar anywhere and internet search didn't say it either for me. I set it to 9V and .1A and then when I turn the output on, the keyboard lights up and voltage reads 5.58V and .1A. You can see that in the first pic at the top of page 2.

Re: Epson Q703D-AA conversion
Well that's where I don't understand my power generator. It has minus, gnd, and plus but only came with a black cable and a red cable so I hooked black up to minus and red up to plus. Am I missing something with that? https://i.imgur.com/3GLNAoz.jpg As far as my 5 wire breakout, yes I have black all...

@kevinhall05 what software do you use for PCB creation? Why don't people use SMD diodes?
Re: Raytheon
One thing I just noticed is that it appears to be a trait that Micro Switch did with the bookend L-shaped keys. I stumbled upon it in an old DT thread for a Decision Data 8010 as well.

Re: Xerox Custom Build Plans
Love all of it. Love Kevin's pcb. I still think you gotta make the track pad round though. Why can't you have a round cutout in your top plate and mount a square track pad underneath. fingers can only glide in the round exposed hole but should work fine to maneuver shouldn't it?
