Re: Alps Appreciation

Overall, I f***ng love my board, the feeling is awesome. But sometimes the stiffness does make me miss letter, and that can be annoying. What is more annoying is that I no longer enjoy anything that does not have this kind of feedback to my fingers. I just wish that my switches can go a little smoot...

Re: Alps Appreciation

Is white alps an absolute upgrade from black alps? Just asking about the regular one, not some fancy early almost - like - blue kind of white alps.

Re: ibm beamspring 3278 with APL capsets find

The one in Thomas review is even usb converted, so you may possibly get this baby up and running for daily use. You can look into casting your own replacement cap i guess, would not be original but surely is special.

So it was in Dvorak layout when you got it? Interesting
Yes, which is a little odd because the keys are definitely in a cherry-like profile for a querty design.

Maxi-Pro II keyboard by maxi switch

Hey gang, Out on the used market and saw this. A quick search on the net does not tell me anything except that Maxi switch company no longer exist and there is one post asking about reprogramming the keyboard on a CAD forum. So i grabbed it anyway. At least I would be able to contribute st to the wi...

Re:

I tried it at the Ikea store near my city... But i found it too big for my legs (I am 170 cm tall). How tall are you? I hope this might be useful to you: use foot rest. I wish I can somehow link the safety training video at work here, it shows bunch of useful stuff actually regarding the work envir...

Re: Alps Appreciation

^ Nice one, looks very clean. Bah, humbug! Alps worry is, to me, overrated. I've been using Alps keyboards for thirty years now, and other than making a halfhearted effort not to spill food and drink into them I've never done anything special. My last driver was a Monterey K104, and I used it for ab...

Re: "Vintage MX Whites"

actually this seller appears quite often on ebay uk if you check ebay for vintage find regularly. He/she seems to have some understanding about mechanical keyboards, at least enough to differentiate from rubber dome ones. However I dont think this person is knowledgeable/ cares enough to give the mo...

Re: Alps Appreciation

I dont think my house is as bad as a warehouse (I hope!). But I have grown quite attached to my board, so just ordered a dust cover to be sure. It is quite cheap from ebay.

Re: Alps Appreciation

How do you guys generally maintain your alps keyboard? Even though I clean my desk often, I notice that there is some dust underneath the cap. I am afraid to blast it with air duster can though, worryying that the dust might go even deeper. For the future, should I get some sort of dust cover?

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Ha ha yes I am not very good at evaluating kb at the moment. It is some kind of liquidation sale, 2 pounds for one keyboard sort of thing, so I am not disappointed at all. Plus anything is better than the office provided equipment- aka the black one above lol

Picked up this on the way to work. And yeah, not super lucky this is a rubber dome.
Nicer than the black one above it for sure ha ha

Re: What are Topre Switches Like?

Vintage rubber domes with sliders? That’s why I never encountered it. Too fancy! Especially the C version, where c means capacitive just like Topre. https://deskthority.net/wiki/BTC_5100 Topre, like every good mech, doesn’t need bottomed out. You fire the keys halfway down. Most domes just aren’t l...

Re: What are Topre Switches Like?

I wish I ever encountered one of these magic unicorns that people imply exist out there: regular rubber domes that are just about as good as Topres. I'd never have needed to get into mechs in the first place! You’ve got to try a Topre. It’s love / meh on first sight. Many of us adore them, and then...
