Re: Rubber domes suggestions

I dont really understand the hype around btc dome with slider. When I get mine, just a few minutes typing on it and I was like: yep, this is definitely a rubber dome. Never on par with a mechanical switch feeling, to me. I guess I wont like topre either.

Re: Alps Appreciation

Yeah, but I think I will sell local first. These dell kbs are big and heavy, and I am more familiar with shipping method in UK.

Then i guess I will use this fund to go further into the box route, to see where it would take me :D

Re: Is it just me?

Vintage mx black, taken into account the price of the board + desoldering + lubing, is actually not cheap at all XD. Another option is retooled mx black. Im not into linear but I have seen many people buying/trading those kind of switches all the time in my community. So i do think they are popular....

Re: Alps Appreciation

I think Alps is not for me :( I guess I would have to part ways with alps boards. Recently I acquired an old Dell with salmon alps. In theory, it should be better, if not way better, than my first alps kb - A Dell 102 with bamboo black alps. Sadly, it is no different. Or the difference is so small I...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

https://i.imgur.com/05QSX7p.jpg This is my doctoral advisor’s keyboard. I don’t know that much about vintage keyboards, but it doesn’t look like any apple keyboard I’ve ever seen before, especially since it’s 65%. It connects via USB, and I think it might have two ports on the side. I do think it’s...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

Fujitsu peerless has that distinct numlock look (a rectangular area on the cap for led to shine through) so I think this may not be that.

Thanks. How did you spot it? :) If they are bamboo then I guess it isn't worth 70$+. (this is the link if anyone is interested https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133271349437?ViewItem=&item=133271349437) Even if it is pine, the shipping will be ridiculous + it is from the us so custom charge. Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread

When business orders custom made keyboards, I think they would go for popular brand. A reasonable guess is that this one is made by Cherry, so try Cherry clear maybe? After all, Cherry does use that in their tailored keebs for Reuters.

BOX switch and the keycap situation

Just wonder if the whole situation with the BOX switches killing yo keycaps has been resolved? I have been reading around it and it seems that all the concerns were mostly voiced a year ago. People either do not encounter this problem anymore or just give up. But overall it is hard to find the final...

Re: How tactile are Razer clicky optical switches?

I'm also surprised about the fact that A lot of Vintage keyboards are a lot better, all you see today is mostly cherry MX really. I dont think that keyboard today is mostly cherry mx. In fact, I think Cherry is the one not moving foward and others have advanced significantly. Since you watch Thomas...

Re: How tactile are Razer clicky optical switches?

Im not sure about the exact model, but at least people I know that have tried the optical switch from keychron dislike it very much. I guess it depends on your use? I can see it works for gaming but typing wise it is not very pleasant.

Want to buy the cheapest possible keycaps!

Want to buy these 4 keys missing in the picture ( apart from the space bar). I dont really care about profile, I just want something cheap and usable. As you can also guess, I am using an ansi layout set of cap so I am missing a few iso special keys and at the same time I have those in ansi layout t...

I generally just love something that looks classic and unique so that clicks with me instantly. Luckily xmas has taken away all my money so I have not made any purchase yet. How do you know that is not alps? Because of the letters on the housing?

Personally, I'd linearise bamboo blacks. Makes them much lighter, and generally, much smoother too. It's a reversible mod too, so if you don't like it, you can just undo it :) .
Hi Thomas, yes I have seen your vid on the modding. Seriously consider it now.

Re: Alps Appreciation

Overall, I f***ng love my board, the feeling is awesome. But sometimes the stiffness does make me miss letter, and that can be annoying. What is more annoying is that I no longer enjoy anything that does not have this kind of feedback to my fingers. I just wish that my switches can go a little smoot...

The one in Thomas review is even usb converted, so you may possibly get this baby up and running for daily use. You can look into casting your own replacement cap i guess, would not be original but surely is special.

Maxi-Pro II keyboard by maxi switch

Hey gang, Out on the used market and saw this.
