WTS Data General 6348-B (needs work)

WTS/WTT my Data General 6348-B. Clicky Fujitsu leaf spring, doubleshot ABS keycaps. £25 + postage from UK. Very open to offers and trades. Case and caps are yellowed. Some surface rust on the back & one rusty screw. Some rust and dirt inside, and PCB has two cracks (through traces). Switches seem sm...

WTS IBM Wheelwriter keycaps

IBM Wheelwriter keycaps Decent condition overall. Some keys have faded dyesub. Most of the alphas are smooth - I think some have even started to shine a little bit. Lesser used keys like += still have their texture. I don't remember which Wheelwriter these are from, but I think they were made by Le...

Re: Dell AT102W retrobright help!

Another issue I have is that the switches are pretty bad and I'd like to give the wax mod a try. I'm pretty sure that the switches are of the later variety as there's not slits where the sliders are. I heard that putting later sliders in boiling water makes them go soft and melted. Those are later ...

[SOLD] IBM F XT keycaps

SOLD WTS a set of F XT keycaps in US layout. Missing the T key but otherwise complete. They're in good condition. I can't see any chips or scratches, and they've still got some texture. They were a bit dusty from storage but have since been cleaned. Excuse the bad lighting - they're not yellowed or...

[SOLD] IBM LPFK

SOLD It's in good condition, but needs cleaning. I attempted a surface clean but it didn't make much difference. Some marks around the case but it's just dirt - I think it should come off with proper cleaning. It powers on and all keys light up, but it's not converted so I can't test any further th...

(Sold) VIGkeys Cherry G81-3000LPCXX

Sold Tested and working. It's quite dirty, it'll definitely need cleaning. I can probably do that before it goes if you want. Cherry MY switches, infilled keycaps with big legends, uses USB. Some legends are worn, J key is missing the infill entirely. Picture makes the caps look slightly discoloured...

(Sold) Sejin SKM-2040 w/ clicky Futaba MA switches

Sold It's in good condition, tested and working. Case and caps were previously cleaned and the plate was brushed off, but it's now a little dusty from storage. I haven't cleaned the cable. Some faint writing on the back, but most of it came off with alcohol. Switches are clicky Futaba MA. They feel ...

Re: Are all PBT keycaps shine-resistant

Weren't AEK caps manufactured with a smooth finish in the first place? I've never noticed texture on them as I remember. I've also got a couple of M0116 and M0118s. Some caps are smooth like the AEK, others have texture. The texture is very fine, but it is there. Definitely not like IBM caps. I pre...

Re: Are all PBT keycaps shine-resistant

In my experience it really depends between different types of keycaps. The ones on my IBM keyboards still have their texture, even after 38 years in the case of my Model F. But, the keycaps on my Apple Extended Keyboard (which I'm actually typing this on) are almost completely smooth. I still don't ...

Re: Realforce GX1 - new Realforce keyboard! I told you! :)

I'm sure it's nice to use, but to be honest, it looks a bit cheap and generic. This could be any random gaming keyboard off Amazon. Always nice to see a new Realforce though.

These could be very handy for certain projects.

Do you have the springs & flippers that go inside these? XT caps are pretty damn nice, too; excepting the oddball modifier layout.
I do, but I think I've only got about 50-60 of them.

Sold 1) F XT flippers and springs 66 springs, 79 flippers. Decent condition, a few have some bits of corrosion as shown in pictures. These have not been cleaned. They will be disassembled and separated to avoid damage in postage, so you'll have to put them all back together. Not a full set unfortuna...

Re: How did I do for $130?

You got a good deal. The yellowed one in the corner is not a Model M though, it probably has Alps or Alps clone switches.
The black and grey one does look like a BTC 5100 - they could come with either rubber domes or foam and foil switches.

Re: [WTS] 1986 IBM Model M (Square Badge, Low serial, Screw Modded)

Anybody got an idea about the layout? Is it potentially mixed from a bunch of spares? It has - Azerty-style numbers - Å but no Æ, Ø, Ä or Ö - All English text buttons except the one in the "scroll lock" position - A lot of odd stuff in the punctuation "cluster" The more you look the weirder it gets...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

It's good to want to understand why things work, when they work. It would also be interesting to try both steps separately, so just boiling without the wax, and just the wax boil. I've tried just boiling without the wax and it definitely makes a difference. The switches I boiled were noticeably smo...

I've tried a couple of SCLS typewriters, they were quite smooth and didn't bind at all.
I did try one that was a bit scratchy and bindy but it wasn't that bad.
