Re: Have you ever seen Num/Caps/Scroll Lock actually used WITH modifiers (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) to obtain a different action

as a loyal user of the planck, I can say that two layers is all that I need. but three is a bit overkill, which is exactly why I have a 48 key instead of a 47 key, which is where I stash my third layer. the thing with the planck is that you really can only have one set of fn/cmt/ctrl or whatever lay...

Re: Scorpius 32 keypad with Alps clones. (and I need some help with it)

these do sound very bassy, but it does have the same problem that mx blues and greens have. its the fact that they are so goddamn rattley, and the sound is not conformed at all. the best way that I could describe them, is locusts nest.

this is very upsetting. however, there could be another reason that they are scraping these old pieces of tech. he could be working for some place and not have a say in what he does, but films it. or he could be scraping it for parts, to sell or for personal use.

Re: How tactile are Razer clicky optical switches?

I have tried a board with them, but not because I went and bought one or something, but they actually did a thing at my local target where you could try razer purple optical switches. also I have a friend who bought a tournament addition a while back, and it came with razer green. as far as I could ...

I've been contacting recyclers to see if I could find any junked Alps keyboards and one of them sent me this photo of a Focus with Orange/Amber Alps, could Focuses actually come with these or is this just a community project they found photos of? I don't want to be conned into buying rubber domes s...

You know when you're on Deskthority when even a thread with "best modern" in the title yields recommendations of decades old boards. It's "modern" if it's new old stock, right?
I guess so. As I said, the plank has support for alps skcm skcl switches, but I was more looking for mx style yes.

Novelkeys Creams with UHMWPE stems are probably your best bet. Smoothest materials, great sound.
They sold out of those months ago. If you bought them, I would be willing to buy them off of you?

Re: Best modern contact-based linear switch.

Most MX switches are pretty good with regards to smoothness but personally MX Blacks if used a long time are very smooth. I will happily agree with that statement, however, the market for vintage or retooled blacks are at an all time low right now. It’s such a shame, because the sound of retooled b...

This is something that I have been wondering myself as well. I think that if there was a Modern Bluetooth mouse in a classic mouse enclosure, that would be cool. This is an old thread I know, but I was wondering if their was any updates on if anyone has found anything yet.

Re: Getting new gaming mouse, advice???

In my profile it straight up says that I am not that into mice. But I do know this one thing. Mice by corsair, any razer that isn’t the viper (especially the deathadder holly crap) all suck in too many ways to list. I own a deathadder, and it is worse then a separate 20 dollar mouse, even though the...

Re: Wip - Fully custom tkl with some extras

This looks very interesting. I think that its great that people are making a departure from 40-75% exclusively, and not including anything above that. This is such an interesting project, and would love to see this project grow bigger. On a side note, I hate the 75 percent layout so much. Not that a...

Best modern contact-based linear switch.

I am not new to linears that aren’t exactly new, and have tried the best of the best contactless switches. The only problem that I had with most of them, is the fact that they actuate way too high for me. (In relation to the contactless switches). And I know keyboards like the wooting that use conta...

Re: Paid the stupid tax? - Topre Type Heaven

Topre, the best modern day alternative to a traditional mechanical. In my opinion, topre feels amazing. It is on par with todays best, and at that it is a huge departure from what most people would want. The rounded tactility is interesting, and I like that it actuates midway, instead of all the way...

I have heard this board in person, I love how clacky the board is, and it is semi deep. However, I would never buy one, as holy moly, it actuated with the weight of my fingers on the home row. Also the thing that makes some click switches better is the same reason that makes tactile switches better. The type of tactility. KB 7953 definitely. It sounds like nothing new, but the feel is where it would get people. That board is not insanely well known, but it probably is worth something anyway. Unless it is the later black version, in which case it is pretty worthless.

At least they have an iso layout lmao. I wish we would go back to this time when thick durable plastic cases were normal, and the sound is allowed to run rampant. That case is just bonkers for what the keyboard actually is.
