DEC LK201 to USB

I got my hands on a DEC LK201 (keyboard from a VT220 terminal). I went searching for a converter and found this: http://pckbd.com/convert/pckbd/dec_lk201-usb_convert_intro_en.html Unfortunately, there is no option to buy it and I haven’t gotten any replies to emails. My first question is, is there a...

Dell AT101W sound advice

I have a Dell AT101W (black Alps) and while I like the switches well enough, the sound drives me batty. I like a clicky keyboard, but relative to a Model M or Apple AE II the Dell sounds hollow, echo-y and cheap. I’m wondering if this is a case issue, a keycap issue, or both. Has anyone tackled this...

Re: White label Model M flickering LEDs

Well, I fixed it...? I connected the PCB to the LED module on the newer Model M and the flickering moved. So, not the LED module. I put it back and once again reseated the cables, etc. to no effect, when suddenly (when I wasn’t touching it) the LEDs stopped flickering. So, maybe I did something or m...

Re: White label Model M flickering LEDs

A few more bits of information: I pulled out an old laptop with a PS/2 keyboard port just to eliminate the USB adapter as a variable and the flicker persists. At this point I also noticed that when the LEDs are activated they flicker in unison. There is no correlation between any movement I make on ...

Re: White label Model M flickering LEDs

So the leds flicker, but otherwise the keyboard works well? And you can still turn them on/off by pressing numlock/capslock, but it just flickers? Do you have a video of the flickering? Do you have an oscilloscope to probe around with to see where the flickering is coming from? No oscilloscope but ...

Re: New Matias Keyboards

Maybe I should buy that set of replacement keycaps for the my (Windows) Tactile Pro while I still can. I got mine used and the legends are fading.

White label Model M flickering LEDs

I got my hands on a white label Model M for cheap. Two-part keycaps, faIrly clean with only a few popped rivets. It works, but the LEDs flicker when activated. I’m using the Monoprice PS/2 to USB converter which has been fine for blue label Ms and Unicomps. Checked the ribbon cable connections, blew...

Re: Rubber domes suggestions

The Lenovo Preferred Pro keyboards are feel nice for rubber domes are are not expensive. I’m not sure about the new model (Preferred Pro II) but you can still the the old one for $27 on Amazon. Since the II is $19, I suspect there has been cost-cutting.
