Re: Unicomp Ultra Classic dropping rivets too quickly...

I would maybe drop Unicomp a message, my two Classics are of similar age and have had zero rivets pop to date, could be a defect with your particular board. I still don't get the hate for Unicomp by some. Their main business is contracts for industrial keyboards. The minor details of fit and finish ...

While they could reverse dyesub to get woblegends I suspect it would be more trouble than it is worth for unicomp. Would love to see it someday I asked about that, actually. The answer was basically that it was more trouble than it was worth. Troy suggested dying them ourselves and selling them all...

That's a mighty fine looking board. The printing on the keycaps looks absolutely spot on too, just a little sad about the change from green lock lights to bright blue

Re: I visited Unicomp a couple days ago, typed on their new Mini M, and asked them some community questions. *long*

I saw new model M's mentioned a few times. I have one from like 2014 or 15. Custom 103 key. Are the new M's newer than this? Unicomp has introduced a brand new keyboard model the call the "New Model M" They designed this new case as part of their work on the new "Mini M" (aka SSK). It looks like th...

Neat! Nice to get a peak inside of the Unicomp operation. Sad to hear about the utter lack of demand for the Pearl keyboards as I love the traditional peal & pebble color scheme (all my boards are in this scheme). Hope something changes to make it cost effective to do some runs of cases/parts in the...

Re: Unicomp SSK delayed, new Model M design coming

Whats with unicomp making terrible bottom rows ? How hard is it to take the original M row and put 1x1 mod keys between the Ctrl and Alt ? They have done it before ! As much as i want one , i am not buying a model M with that bottom row. Sort your shit out unicomp. I mean that's what they did. Prob...

Re: Unicomp SSK delayed, new Model M design coming

My suspicion is that they had to change the top section of the frame assembly for new standoff and case bolt locations. The shrinkage of the case compared to the old designs is greatest at the top and as a result the case bolts will be much closes in on the assembly and they probably had to adjust t...

Re: Unicomp SSK delayed, new Model M design coming

The product update/announcement mentions that the baseplate fabrication process is new when talking about the "New Model M" full size board. So it's unclear if it's just a tooling/process update or if it's a new baseplate design compared to the older Classic/Ultra Classic

Re: Unicomp SSK delayed, new Model M design coming

Why not just use a full size USB B connector? It's rugged and easy to insert yet hard to accidentaly yank out, the cables are cheap and easy to find. I always felt that the micro USB connector looks and feels out of place on a full size computer keyboard. According to a reply from Unicomp to a comm...

Re: Unicomp SSK delayed, new Model M design coming

Oh wow, wasn't expecting them to announce a new full size board! Looks like an SSK that grew back a numpad, or a Classic that's gone on a slight diet. Really hope they get enough interest to stock the pearl color for the Tenkeyless and New Model M, though I must say these new models look much nicer ...

Re: IBM SSK club!

Hi All,

Managed to win a new in box blue badge IBM SSK on eBay and thought I'd share. I use Unicomp Model M's at home and work as my regular keyboards but when I stumbled across a new SSK I couldn't help myself. Box was still sealed with the original tape when it arrived. Manufacture date is 12/2/92
