Re: Finished 1985 IBM Model F AT Mod!
That's a nice AT. Good for you - you kept your big-ass enter AND got a longer backspace. I tried to get used to the single unit backspace but couldn't for some reason (bizarrely I was able to figure it out on the XT, though :-?) Also my enter was really stiff, on the brink of binding when I hit it i...

[WTS-US] Sun Type 5 and Rack Mount
I'm trying to make some space and thought it's time to sell my: - Sun Type 5, new in box. Comes with mouse (which seems to have been removed from the box for some time) and some classic paperwork and mousepad. I haven't got the time to put it into service. Asking $80 $60 plus shipping. A second mous...

Re: [WTB] Trackball curious
Yes, I read that a while back, and now having done my research it carries more weight re-reading it. Thanks for the link. The community seems to have as varied opinions as there are trackballs. Also seems relatively common that people pine for the trackballs that went out of production a long time a...

Re: [WTB] Trackball curious
How do you compare the scroll rings on the two Kensingtons? I hear that the Orbit's is smoother than the Expert's.
The CST and Elecom HUGE both look pretty top notch, and seem to fit in entirely different categories. How is it with that scroll wheel way up there on the CST?

[WTB] Trackball curious
Trackball aficionados: on the quest for your perfect trackball, you might have ended up with a couple unused and/or detested trackballs in a drawer. I'm interested in trying out finger or thumb trackballs, preferably with scroll wheel of some kind. Let me know what you're ready to part with!

Re: Mind The Gap - Unicomp NOS Industrial case
To add to the knowledge base and answer some of the OP's questions, I dropped the guts of a 2017 Unicomp into one of the 1995 grey industrial cases. End result: mine has the same accumulating play. It's clear that they used the left side of the board as reference. IMG_20201017_140810.jpg What can be...

Re: Siemens F500
Nice keyboard, looks kind of familiar :) The case on mine seems to have come from the same mold. I'm surprised to see how many different switches Falco used. I've seen differing degrees of yellowing on ABS keys on the same keyboard before, but in this case I think you are right that the keys with pr...

Re: Found (was WTB): 9.75u Spacebar!
SP seems ready to make all kinds of ancient stuff but doesn't keep 9.75 unit DCS profile spacebars in stock (go figure). Rayndalf, what profile is your keyset? They even offer stepped molds for non-stabilized keys. Presumably there is a minimum order, even for keys without legends - has anybody got ...

Re: [FREE-EU] Rack/Tray mount keyboard-mouse combination
It's pretty cool, someone can make a really cool desk integrated pc with those as peripherals. I'd do it myself, but I have too many projects that I need to finish already. I agree 100% with both comments! Looks amazing; layoutwise and originality! I'd be really happy to take it off your hands! :D ...

[FREE-EU] Rack/Tray mount keyboard-mouse combo and Compaq Enhanced II
To be had for the price of shipping: Available: Compaq Enhanced II keyboard (Key Tronic foam & foil): Hefty yet "space-saving" design from about 1990. Do you mean the /? or \| key (to the right of left shift) on the UK layout? If \|, that's probably because that key doesn't exist on the US layout. Never mind that the IBM PC initially placed it there...

Re: Question about keyboard layouts and scancodes
2B is shared by both of those physical locations (and they are functionally the same). Of course, that depends on the scan code set - much more info to be found in John J. G. Savard's article: http://quadibloc.com/comp/scan.htm

I'm afraid that it will not work directly with a modern computer since the protocol is XT, not AT. You'll need an active converter.

Re: Cleaned a keyboard and won't work now - Is this possible to fix ?
My idea with the lock lights was just a first-order check if the controller wasn't fried. It's by no means a true verification. But it leads me to think that it's likely a contact problem, either between membranes or from membranes to controller. Especially since none of the keys work. Have you clea...

Re: Cleaned a keyboard and won't work now - Is this possible to fix ?
Do the lock lights correspond to their respective state in the operating system? In other words, if you hook up a second keyboard and turn on Num Lock on that one, do both keyboard lock lights respond? Weezer is right, I've had trouble with getting good contact with edge connectors before. Also make...

Re: What do you think about this keyboard?
Nice layout, especially the back tab. And the partially-mirrored num pad. I personally would keep the AltGr key next to the spacebar, but that's just habit from the Enhanced keyboard. And I actually liked your nav cluster unencumbered by other buttons; as pointed out above it's really the space arou...

[WTB] IBM Model F/M keys
Hello everybody, I'm searching for a vertical ISO enter and backspace of the older variety with thin wire stabilizers. For instance, those who have performed the ANSI mod on their F122 might have an extra hidden away somewhere. I'd like to ISO-mod on my model F AT. Thanks! Edit: in case there are an...

Late response! Has your friend already bought something? I've been using my wife's Ultimate Hacking Keyboard during the confinement, and I'm very impressed with it. [EU] Apple Alps keycaps
Hello all, I've got an Apple Macintosh Portable keyboard module, which I've mounted in a temporary plywood frame. I used a Teensy++ to rig up the matrix and it's a joy to use. I might write up something about it in the future if I ever get to finish the project. However the French layout is not real...
