That also looks like a good alternative. Now I'm not sure what to go for lol. So much easier for the ones that I didn't have to assemble myself, that way everyone can just use what they want to get it done. Anyone have any experience using some of these things who could comment on glue vs velcro vs ...

Actually, going to go buy some velcro right now to try that first since if that doesn't work well I can undo whereas with the glue I can't undo it lol. edit: scratch that, apparently the store hours listed on the website don't match those IRL. I'll have to go tomorrow, which means I'll go ahead and ...

I'll be gluing a first trial one tonight. Maybe I'll see if I can try one using velcro tomorrow to compare them.

If you used two strips along the top and bottom edge of the longer sides it would probably stay pretty steady. It may be a bit taller as he said though, which may make your keycaps go above the height of the case walls.

Here's a little video explaining how to set it up for those that didn't ask for me to do it for them. Pretty straight forward. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAuaEI6snDM I may not be able to send any more out until Thursday as I've got some homework I need to do this weekend then from Monday to Wedn...

Okay, I've sent out all the ones that didn't ask for gluing. As a reminder, I originally charged $80 but I didn't have to pay taxes on the $64 cases since they were paid in cash under the table, so I'm taking $10 off the remaining anodizing + shipping cost. (15% tax on $64 is $9.60) The ones that ne...

Got four of them out today. I might have to just abandon putting them in boxes and instead just bubble wrap them and then cover them in parcel paper. For those that I got out today, I literally had to cut some holes of cardboard out of the box to reduce it the last 5g or so that I needed. It looks p...

Soooooooooo annoying. Brought 3 to the post office and two of them were like 0.995 kg and the last was 1.005 kg so it didn't make it. Have to fiddle with the packaging grumble grumble. Google Spreadsheet is here so you can see which ones I've shipped. The non-glued ones are going first. https://docs...

Will do Chris. I just went to the post office to check out the weights, and the packages are about 50g overweight. So what I'll have to do is cut off two of the four folding flaps (the smaller two). This is what I had to do last time when I sent one of the unanodized cases to someone. The box will s...

Honestly I think I would prefer the Grey so it works fine for me. Would it be fine then to swap my polished blue to a brushed clear? I figure it will look even nicer with my white keys/grey modifiers from the red alert GB. Yup, sure thing! Now I'll have a blue one for myself and I can take that one...

Only if you actually want to. I don't want to force anybody. If you do though, let me know if you want brushed or polished.

So I just unwrapped them all and sorted them all out and the quantities are a bit off. What people asked for, excluding myself: Brushed + Clear = 5 Brushed + Blue = 9 Polished + Clear = 2 Polished + Blue = 9 Total = 25 What I requested from the anodizing place: Brushed + Clear = 7 Brushed + Blue = 1...

Awesome, looking forward to mine. Do you have an idea of how you will sort out shipping (I know some people myself included hadn't specified how to send it yet), did you have our info saved outside of GH? I have everyone's shipping address from geekhack PMs going to my regular email. I'll have to d...

One has to trim the type of welding rod to the alloy Sadly I don't even know what that means now that I'm hearing it! If I ever organize something like this again I'll mention that to the place where I got these manufactured. Uploading a video to youtube, not that much to see since it's basically j...

They have them, but the brushing hides them almost completely because of the textured look.

Took them in partial sunlight so you can get a better idea of the shade depending on the lighting. They look really good IRL though, barring the corner discoloration a bit. I'll put up a little 360 video tour of one in a bit.

Anodized aluminum poker cases

http://i.imgur.com/Fehwsh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iHMLSh.jpg Just picked them up from the anodizing shop and they look pretty great. http://imgur.com/a/lSOdE#0 The good: 1. The blue came out in a wonderful, rich shade. 2. The pitting is very minor. The brushed ones hide it completely and even on the...

So I got a call from the anodizing place, but sadly it was something somewhat depressing rather than them telling me that it's done. Someone called to ask me what company I worked for at which point I had to remind them that I'm just an individual, not a company. That leads me to think that they are...

Dark backgrounds are much easier on the eyes than bright ones. It's one of the reasons that terminals are great.
