Re: Alps Key Caps Where?
There are like two doubleshot sets by Tai Hao you can get new, and some of the caps won't fit on vintage boards.
Other than that...yeah, pretty much you need to harvest from old boards.

Ghnnn, I've been holding out on buying that exact one. I do love the idea of the switch, its sound etc. But I really really hate the modern case height with exposed switches at the bottom. (also the silver thing...)

Re: Epson PC286KB2 - Mitsumi KKQ Switch?
How did you like yours? I know the K-Q switches get some flak around here, but so far I find mine to be pretty nice! Although I am still pretty inexperienced, and have only really tried a Model F, FLS 2nd gen, and a couple of modern switches. I'm not sure yet, I didn't try it a ton. If felt a bit l...

It's somewhat bizarre that keyboards touted as the most sturdy and long lasting have these kinds of fundamental issues when they ship NEW.
Sure as hell hope mine will be ok, because I've never done any soldering.

Looks like a Bull branded Zenith, iirc Zeniths with this square tree logo are rubber domes.
edit: I think it's a "Zenith SK-2000RE".

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Zenith-INEQ-Keyboard-Vintage-AT-compatible-ALPS/164690868588 The problem with those boards is that you can't desolder the switches - they are literally "glued" in place with whatever that rust-resistant spray they put on the top after the switches were already installed. 40...

Re: I would like to try Alps
Yeah, black alps AT102 was my first true Alps board and I hated them. But they were in pretty bad shape and linearizing them helped a ton. (they are a bit light though, lighter than my green clones)
The SGI version has some unfortunate rollover, or am I misremembering?

Re: Introductory Guide to Ultrasonic Cleaning
Ddrfraser1: from what I’ve read you’re better off cleaning 1/4 of a keyset at a time, to get better results. And as for metals I believe it depends on the cleaning solution; tap water can cause corrosion so maybe search around for alternatives; demineralized water might help? I really don’t know. I...

[WTB] Replacement Model M keycaps OR Green 4-tab Alps clones switches (EU)
I need: 1) F7 2) ideally: "( )" (Round brackets - but that's a Czech layout key, so unlikely someone has that.) 3) less ideally: "} ]" (right curly and straight brackets) 4) If someone did have spare Czech keycaps, I'd also take top num row 5. ("5 ř") (European sellers due to shipping costs, please)...

How are larger keys? I assume stabilized ones are ok, but what about capslocks etc., is there no binding on edge/corner presses?

The Nyogel is on eBay and turns out I can get the OKS locally (since the manufacturer is German?).
And they are a bit pricey, but hey. If I can make my white alps board not terrible - that'd be neat.

Probably some months, especially if you order printed keys (which afaik are not ready). I would assume anyway.
I received two emails confirming the order and then heard no more. People have waited years for these keyboards, I wouldn't expect anything quick.

Re: Has anyone successfully cleaned Monterey "Clicky" Blues (Alps Mount)?
Ok, I thought so. I have an alps mount keyboard where most keys are quite smooth, but unstabilized modifiers noticeably bind.
I can't solder so I guess I'm not cleaning them any time soon.
