Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread
Based on the led light i am guessing either some kind of foam and foil or actually cherry switches. If the latter than likely mx black.

Re: Alps Appreciation
I want to contact Alps and ask about the blueprints, and specifics about the switch for clone manufacturing. How can I ask politely, in a way that is not shameless? Like... I could ask for a Lincense or something like that, and then plan on starting a kickstarter campaing or something. Can someone ...

Ok so if this can be confirmed (your claim), i wonder if it is ok to doxx this dude completely? I am sure he harvested the caps (dyesub maybe?) and the case to flip on reddit and still has the audacity to try to milk more money from you.

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!
I have actually found some black stuff on the sliders. I might be able to find one that still has that. It was presumably lube. Skcm whites, still. I am guessing that those black stuffs are where the switch plate contacts with the slider correct? That should be just stain, you can tell right away w...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!
Yeah i have had bad whites, lots actually. They are not factory lubed, sometimes they are exactly what you have been describing: brutally stiffs and binds. I think there are a few factors attributing to it. Some alps do need breaking in, believe it or not. Of course, it could also be that the switch...

Re: How to improve MX Blacks?
Too much work to make them worth using. Spring swap at minimum, very likely lube, probably film while you have them taken apart. If they're muh muh vint blacks I'd just sell them to some dumbass on Reddit. Box Navy is awesome, I've heard good things about Jade but never used them. If you want a goo...

Re: Vintage black or no?
those metal "pin" are just from the diode. The best way, as always, is to find time stamp on the keyboard, ideally the pcb I will try to find the date, but I did not see it on the printed circuit board. Wyse has some paper stamp with date on them, often on the top of the pcb. Also stamp on case.

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!
Well, I on the other hand will just verify that Nyogel 760G does nothing for Blue ALPS (and all SKCM that are prelubed). In fact it does the exact opposite, it exacerbates the friction making them even more scratchy. Back to the drawing board. Yikes... well then. RIP to those that tried 😬 It's a bi...

Re: Alps Appreciation
Sorry to ruin your discovery there @hellothere and @ntv242ver2, but that's just a cover Alps used for the very tall Apple keycaps. They clip in to a standard Alps switch, in this case an SKCM Orange. Still, though, it's a rather uncommon piece to find, so it's a neat find nonetheless. :) no worries...

Unlikely i think, other experts are welcome to chip in, but to the information i acquired on the internet (wiki to be specific) On October 1, 1999, the SNI was overtaken by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners. The name was changed to Wincor Nixdorf GmbH. So this is likely the ...

The most reliable thing is any sort of timestamp, preferably on the pcb, to confirm if this is vintage black or not. especially if your plan is to resell them later

it is not a broken switch. That is just how it is. Hence why i take many pictures from diff angles so people can compare and contrast. The housing is very very different

Re: Internal Soarer's Converter from scratch (beginner friendly)
Hi, how would you deal with the lack of grounding for this mod? I have to do an internal converter for my F XT and it just inputs random characters to the pc, someone pointed out the lack of grounding for my F XT but i don't really know how to incorporate that with this mod.
