I especially like how the 2* keys are stabilized with a dummy switch: sometimes they just have one switch in the middle instead (notice the keycap supports both configurations).
Great find, Glad you got it. I remember when it was listed.

oh cool I was wodnering where this turned up. I had a chance to acquire one of these for $107 about a year or so ago, (after I figured out the part number) but passed it up. Good to see it's still in the community. I notice it has the cool bottom pan unlike the 1387033. Do you mind opening the case ...

I suppose those are third party caps made for a specific application. Is that an EMR KB I spy? sweet find! Upload images of the inside please, I want to compare it with the other EMR KBs I've seen pictures of. They could be IBM official caps, they do have a history of making slightly-yellow ABS cap...

It's a good mnemonic. Almost too good! I honestly don't understand IBM's naming conventions at all, and any time I have to remember what something is called I go searching for its nickname instead! Thank goodness for Kishsavers and Great Whites. I like mnemonics. That's why I'm pushing for "pingmas...

@Andrew: the letters F and M do in fact stand for something. Citation needed. I think Dorkvader was the first to explain this to me, back when I was very new to all this, via PM. Anyone with a proper printed IBM source is welcome to pipe up. I head that the F stood for 'flip-plate' and the M for 'm...

The only Kishsaver I'd buy! nah 62 key is where it is at, that 107 is tempting however The 107-key is the best of the 4704 keyboards by far. When I saw this on ebay, I was sad because I knew it'd get posted: This is the one keyboard (that currently exists) that I want the most. The good news is the...

That TG3 PCB looks an awful lot like … whoever it is exactly who's making all these small Chinese keyboards like the Poker II (Vortex, or whoever they subcontract out to). Waffle ground planes are common: kinesis, TG3, Vortex use them now though there are differences. Firstly, the first several gen...

Yes, I love opening a keyboard and findind a beautiful PCB inside. That's one reason I hate cherry. Their PCBs suck! Cherry is such a mixed bag of quality, It's hard to even begin. Their keycaps, cable, unnecessary RF paranoia, controller, etc are all very good, and either top tier or close to it. H...

That looks much better than mine, but I will have a look into the wiki later this week and see what pictures I can add there. This would be great on my code until Round 5 ships
It's obvious that the entire legend is POM. The reason the top part is backlit is because that's the part directly above the LED.

well I certainly wouldnt lube a foam&foil switch. The good news with hall effect is that they aren't very susceptible to liquid damage. I just put mineral oil on mine. I'm sure a lot of it will end up on the PCB, but it's not hurting anything there. I may re-apply with Krytox (an expensive fluorinat...

How weird! Those switches are a hybrid of Cherry MX (shell) and Mitsumi (switchplate). The AG-A850 sounds nice, too — deep and metallic. I have no idea what that switch is; I have assigned it a code [wiki]USw LABW01[/wiki]. Video control panels are a interesting and relatively unexplored topic. Son...

I All Wyse doubleshots are thin DCS profile by SP, as I remember. In fact I should have a picture of them next to Honeywells around here somewhere. SP didnt exist in 1984. WYSE used comptec to make their keycaps. Later, the comptec molds were purchased by SP, so the font, shape, etc. is the same. s...

Hall effect, like capsense, doesn't even need diodes as I understand. So hand wiring one of those would be a cakewalk! I wouldn't mind a Displaywriter; the layout looks pretty good, and it's probably no wider than a 122-key Model F? Being the last beamspring IBM made it should either be the peak of quality or the cheapest and nastiest. The Displaywriter is pretty small: it's only about 2-3 cm wider than an M. As fa...
