Re: Weytec MK06 retrofitted with LCD screen

@muirium the blanks keys are the original ones, what you're describing is what wey originally did on the puny original LCDs :) I've been thinking about what kind of "software" I want permanently on that screen, no idea for now, but it shouldn't be too hard to write a simple "app launcher" or somethi...

Weytec MK06 retrofitted with LCD screen

Thanks to the awesome work by @MMcM , I was able to get my MK06 working without the external converter. To celebrate, I changed the weak LCDs with a big IPS HDMI panel. This way, the screen can just display whatever I want instead of the Weytec stuff. A few 3D printed parts hold all that in place, a...

Re: Alps switch pusher

I have slightly modified the files and most importantly, I moved them to printables.com, thingiverse going wonky on me. https://www.printables.com/model/241359-alps-space-invader-mx-switch-pusher b2LG2s9IE6M There's an untested MX version now, and I modified the Alps version to also work with Space ...

Re: Alps switch pusher

I've rarely been able to separate a PCB and mounting plate even after all the switches are desoldered Sorry if what I'll say seems basic but you never know. Usually, I work from side to side, desoldering around 5 or 6 columns and then flex the PCB a little bit. Sometimes tiny leftover tin whisker a...

Re: Alps switch pusher

I haven't looked closely at those canon creams, but I don't think I broke a single one. Last keyboard I desoldered was an AEK with oranges, using the screwdriver method about a third of the switches had at least a broken clip. imho it mostly depends on the plastic fatigue though, the oranges seemed ...

Alps switch pusher - Updated with SI and MX variants

While removing the Cream Alps from a rusty Canon AP210X module, I decided than using screwdrivers to push on the little clips to liberate the switches from the plate was just too boring. After a few tries, I came up with this little tool. 2MVFLLjaKVY The shell goes over the switch bottom housing and...

Re: Alps Lubricant FOUND!

So I'm wondering, surely it's not necessary for the water to be boiling, right? It's about delivering some heat, enough to clean the dirt off and melt the wax. So for the ABS housings, anything under 100C should be ok? (iirc that's when it starts warping?) So maybe a sous vide heater, set to like 7...

Re: Seeking Soarer - evidence thread

That's why one of the questions is about discovering Soarer's meat identity. The question I have in response to that magnificent heroic quest to doxx soarer and coax their source code out of them is : why ? There are wonderful open source alternatives with clear licenses, especially QMK / VIA, that...

Re: Resin print keyboard parts factory

Hi Robb, Thanks for your work ! I already told you on discord that I used your alps models for checking fit in a custom case, that was incredibly helpful. I also got a resin a week ago, and here's the first replacement part printed for a vintage keyboard. I'm converting a Rohde & Schwarz PCA-Z1 keyb...

Re: Please welcome the new owners of Deskthority

Well, the problem is that GDPR doesn't care if you're Facebook or a tiny forum... There's not many solutions : either you cut off EU users, you don't do anything but are then open to complaints, or you comply with GDPR.

Nice work man ! Reminded me of the micro AEKII case on thingiverse but your's is nicer imho
Do you have more pictures of the real case ? And are you planning on printing in another color / painting ? The dark grey rendering looks real good.
