Re: Siemens F500

This matches my own experience with TMK on converters. Build it yourself and it will work with the key map specified in source. But I haven’t ever gotten Unimap to work. Which is super annoying as it’s all I need, want or use with my Hasu-native HHKBs and Alps64. Well, my custom build does work wit...

Re: Siemens F500

I can report success with the firmware. I tried tmk's ibmpc_usb converter and it worked out of the box. Typing this from a F500. The firmware performs a reset (FF) on startup. Afterwards the keyboard replies with ID AB83 and is apparently in Code Set 2. All keys are reported properly and lock lights...

Re: Siemens F500

I think most, if not all, mt3 kits includes a 7u spacebar. I bought mine aftermarket, so I am not sure if it originally came with a 7u spacebar or not (the previous owner might have removed it). But I don't think it did. I designed a key with KeyV2 and will try to print that if not too expensive. I...

[WTB][EU-DE] SA/MT3-profile 7u spacebar (dark-blue or black)

Hello!

I would be interested in buying a dark-blue or black SA/MT3-profile 7u spacebar.
If that same person happens to have a left-over 2u clip-in PCB-mounted stabilizer, I would also be interested in buying one.

Cons:
I would add to this list that it has a 7u spacebar, which complicates replacing the keycaps. In my case, I wanted to install MT3 keycaps. Good luck finding a MT3 or SA 7u space bar. I am already thinking about 3d-printing one...

Re: Siemens F500

- the stabilizers are really bad and some even squeak. - due to the metal mounting plate, the keyboard makes metallic noises when the keys bottom out. I also bought one of those keyboards, where somebody already desoldered the switches. Seems like a good starting point for a custom build with new s...

Re: Olympus trackball

The Measurement Systems XCL-25C is also made of metal. How do they compare to one another? Somehow, I just need a vintage trackball made out of chunky metal. ;-) Industrial trackballs (the ones that are usually installed into public terminals) might also be an option. Unfortunately they sell for rid...

As for buttons - I'm using ones belonging to my notebook's touchpad instead. Sounds bizarre, but actually convenient.
Doesn't that mean you need two hands to operate it? You wrote so in your article.
Anyway, I will try to get one and see for myself.

Re: IBM Model F XT: Fixing the original controller

Grounding issue, try to adjust the nut that grounds the keyboard, inside the board there is a black cable with a metal O connector. The future solution to this issue is replacing the original pcb with a xwhatsit or the new model f/beamspring logic board created by kmnov. You are probably right. Eve...

Re: Olympus trackball

It looks awesome. Actually, I think it would harmonize well with the brutalist style of my keyboards.
What about resolution? This is a shutter-wheel trackball. Is it usable on high resolution displays?
The membrane keys are probably not ideal, though.

IBM Model F XT: Fixing the original controller

Hello! I've bought a Model F XT keyboard last year and really enjoyed typing on it. I'm using an external handmade Atmega32u4-based Soarer's Converter. The board itself is in a good shape. The original foam is intact. I had to disassemble it once when I received it in order to reattach the spacebar....

Re: New SMD Model F controllers available

About using pin headers, the pins are not really arranged in a very regular fashion. So you'd have to make a custom version of one of the xwhatsit-like boards, that would have the same arrangement of pins. Also keep in mind, I don't know the diameter of those holes, there's a very good chance that ...

Re: New SMD Model F controllers available

I do a pretty whack job of organizing the wires and everything, but the keyboard works now that all it matters at the moment, i will look into fixing the length of the wires later and fit everything in a case properly. Unfortunately, my XT is not with me right now. But I'll also have to fix or repl...

Checking of capacitors a possible only if complete remove it. Brocken switches can blocked work of electronic? Tonight i'm ordering five a pieces. Hello Kashtan, did you end up replacing the capacitors? I'd be interested in which ones exactly you bought. I also plan on replacing my controller's cap...

Re: Loudest EVER Model F XT Proof of Concept with Xwhatsit Controller

Wouldn't it be possible to simply desolder two ICs from the original PCB and attach the wires via their former pins? (Perhaps you'll need to kill a few more ICs to make sure the old controller is electronically dead.) I've also got a faulty XT. It's not completely dead but sometimes produces ghostly...

VEB Robotron K7637 Replacement Controller and Firmware

Dear fellow nerds, this is my first post on Deskthority. I'd like to present you my newest keyboard controller project. Well, actually my first controller project, although I have previously built and hacked converters. I'm sure you will find it interesting and I hope that somebody can help me to re...
