I found a model f but from the pictures it looks like it is in relatively bad condition. Should I look into it?

So I found a Model F on ebay(and yes it definetely is a model f, it is identical to model f pictures from google) for auction. I don't know if the price will be driven too high by people who are willing to pay more money than me, but if I get lucky somehow, it doesn't seem to be in the best conditio...

Re: Does anyone else here still use ball mice?

Yeah I have always been confused with manufacturers and people using trackball/ball/mouse/rollerball, and other words like that interchangeably. To be honest, I actually did know what a ball mouse was, it just didn't come to mind specifically for that reason. Because I was so used to people using di...

Re: Does anyone else here still use ball mice?

And I think I know what they are. They are a mouse with a ball on the bottom instead of the light(the word "optical "obviously has something to do with light) that is used to track the cursor.

Re: Does anyone else here still use ball mice?

Yep. I am young. Only 13, as a matter of fact. My understanding based on your replies is that ball mice are sort of like the mechanical keyboards of mice. They used to be popular, but then manufacturers began to make optical mice for whatever reason, and then the public sort of just forgot about the...

keyboard meetups?

I have been hearing a lot about keyboard meetups lately and I think that it would be a good opportunity to try some more vintage switches such as M/F's or alps, but obviously there is kind of a global pandemic so I was wondering if there was anyone in my state(NY) that would have any information as ...

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

Most people buy things for their look or the current fashion trend. Functionality is of lower importance for them. Oh. I get why people would make that choice, but for me, I think the point of a chair is kind of the comfort, so I would definitely go for something that's geared toward that rather th...

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

Yeah, I will definitely invest in a better chair sometime in the near future, it just probably won't be something as fancy as the Embody. I was thinking more of a nice ergo chair around the 100-200 dollar range. Also, I don't know if anyone would know this, but I keep hearing people talk about how g...

I get that, and I bet that the embody chair is really comfortable, but there is one small caviat... And that is the fact THAT IT COSTS 1200 BUCKS!

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

Oh. Sorry about that. I mean, 110 bucks isn't that bad for a keyboard, so I kinda just assumed it was a typo. Also, I'm sure if it was worth it someone would buy that, but it would have to be a really good opportunity and I am a kid, so by the time I mustered enough money for it, it would be long go...

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

And one more thing. I just put a box jade and box pale blue to my ear to compare the sounds, and the box jade sounds so twangy when its up at your ears. It might just be my batch, but try it. It's almost like a stringed instrument!

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

Ok, I have to come clean. My plan was never to find my dream switch right off the bat, although theoretically I think that I did(keyword theoretically). I think that as you said, buckling spring and blue/white alps would be the best for me. What I actually planned to do with the information though, ...

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

My recommendation: Try Kailh box royals. They are medium weight, extremely sharply tactile and when the lube wears off after a couple of weeks they even become clicky. Excellent switches all round! I did buy 10 of them for the modifier keys on my keyboard, and I really love the tactility of them, w...

Re: TACTILITY(and clicky)

As for a serious tip: the Unicomp SSK is very interesting. Definitely clicky with tactility so sharp it’ll give you paper cuts if you’re unready! Even comes dressed in half decent caps as stock. Thoughtful of them. Do the switches in that kb come seperately? I am building my own keyboard from scrat...

Re: Blue Alps?

I have so far only 2 switch types, both modern. box pale blues, and box royals. So far, this is what I like about each switch: Royals. I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the huge amount of tactility that are in those switches. I bet there are more tactile switches, but even to me, I can tell that th...
