Re: F104+SSK+122+62+77+50+Ergo orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards

The Keyboard Oracle has decided: thy problem is not electrical or software, yet mechanical 'i nature. The path to the wholeness may be found by reseating the keycap or by replacing the spring. I feel like these boards should come with a bunch of springs (don't need to be with flippers) free of char...

How much would this cost extra?

Two questions: 1. If I ordered a round 2 BSSK now, what case would it come in? The 5251 inspired case or the 3278 inspired one with the weird swoop in the back? There doesn't seem to any selection and the product page has images/renders for both types cases. 2. The render of the plate for the BSSK s...

Do they also do requests or just the ones shown? They say there's "Made-to-order customization". But they also say they currently don't ship to the EU. I like the GNU one, but it seems so faded/faint compared to how colourful some of the others are. What I'd really love is a GNU Emacs keycap (the fl...

Hi! Curious, how much are you offering for the Battleship case? Got one that I was opening up to see what's wrong with the board but maybe i should just sell the thing as is (or without the innards for your case). Will post a timestamp later There's a full Type 1 on sale on ebay currently for 99€. ...

Finally *almost* settled on a layout I'm happy with on my UK layout. Interesting... and uncannily similar to my own layout. We seem to have come to some of the same conclusions. IMG_20221104_032607.jpg I'm still a bit bothered by the differently shaded ISO-Enter. I still don't get why the pebble co...

But ISO Enter has the stabilizer tabs on the right on the early Model Ms (and F122), not on the left. The answer is that an F AT BAE-key has two stabilizer wires, one horizontal, one vertical in addition to the stabilizer insert it also has... IBM went for a complete stabilization overkill after the...

Input Club and Kailua gave up their cloning effort because they could not source an appropriate steel.
I thought the primary issue was the investment cost for the tooling and almost everything else was ready to go.

It seems like the keyboard you mentioned uses PCB mounted parts while the beam keyboards of course cannot do that by design of the beam modules. Please correct me if this is not accurate, if you can suggest a plate mount style design that allows for different keyboards with cut out circles on the t...

Yes, non-3278 is much, much better. I'd prefer it if it was a bit shorter though, maybe with the rear bezel not wider than the front bezel. But it's already pretty nice. Only thing needed now is the same ISO-HHKB split-backspace layout that is possible on the New Model F and I'd instantly buy this. ...

Re: Strange, oily smell from rubber (?) sheet inside a Model M

The 'blanket' (that's what it's called) smells because it is made out of rubber (actual rubber, not plastic with tons of actually toxic plasticizer). The smell is the same as you get from bicycle tires and things like that and unless there's additional chemicals in there it should be harmless.

It says on the page they're "laser frosted", which I'm hearing for the first time. How does it work? Is this "frosting" as durable as the anodized layer?

I have no idea how you’d create the thin stems robust enough to not break.
Couldn't you just use regular Model M stems and only manufacture the caps?

How would you go about it, 3D printing or something else?
