Re: F104+SSK+122+62+77+50+Ergo orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
The Keyboard Oracle has decided: thy problem is not electrical or software, yet mechanical 'i nature. The path to the wholeness may be found by reseating the keycap or by replacing the spring. I feel like these boards should come with a bunch of springs (don't need to be with flippers) free of char...

Re: Beam Spring 104+SSK Reproduction Project! First Batch In Stock, Shipping early next year after New Model F Project
Two questions: 1. If I ordered a round 2 BSSK now, what case would it come in? The 5251 inspired case or the 3278 inspired one with the weird swoop in the back? There doesn't seem to any selection and the product page has images/renders for both types cases. 2. The render of the plate for the BSSK s...

Do they also do requests or just the ones shown? They say there's "Made-to-order customization". But they also say they currently don't ship to the EU. I like the GNU one, but it seems so faded/faint compared to how colourful some of the others are. What I'd really love is a GNU Emacs keycap (the fl...

Hi! Curious, how much are you offering for the Battleship case? Got one that I was opening up to see what's wrong with the board but maybe i should just sell the thing as is (or without the innards for your case). Will post a timestamp later There's a full Type 1 on sale on ebay currently for 99€. ...

Finally *almost* settled on a layout I'm happy with on my UK layout. Interesting... and uncannily similar to my own layout. We seem to have come to some of the same conclusions. IMG_20221104_032607.jpg I'm still a bit bothered by the differently shaded ISO-Enter. I still don't get why the pebble co...

Re: Model F AT in ISO?
But ISO Enter has the stabilizer tabs on the right on the early Model Ms (and F122), not on the left. The answer is that an F AT BAE-key has two stabilizer wires, one horizontal, one vertical in addition to the stabilizer insert it also has... IBM went for a complete stabilization overkill after the...

I would be interested in something like this, but can't fill out the form because it seems to require a google account. I've never had that problem when filling out ICs.

It seems like the keyboard you mentioned uses PCB mounted parts while the beam keyboards of course cannot do that by design of the beam modules. Please correct me if this is not accurate, if you can suggest a plate mount style design that allows for different keyboards with cut out circles on the t...

Yes, non-3278 is much, much better. I'd prefer it if it was a bit shorter though, maybe with the rear bezel not wider than the front bezel. But it's already pretty nice. Only thing needed now is the same ISO-HHKB split-backspace layout that is possible on the New Model F and I'd instantly buy this. ...

I'm under no illusion that I am any more than merely a user of this technology, not its author. And that's fine by me, always has been. The only thing that's an illusion is you thinking you have no ability to take charge of your own computer usage. You can choose to remain in ignorance, but at leas...

But yeah, PCs right? Pointless copying Apple if you can't have that processor. x86 wants its high flow fans back. For me it's less about the processor, but the impractical built-to-break package it comes in and the attached boot that keeps stamping on your face forever. But I guess to each their ow...

And it's not just the keyboards either. The function-follows-form school of hardware-design has been copying step by step every last usability-sin Apple pioneered on their god-awful overpriced glue-fest they call Macbook. Everytime I try to look for a new laptop these days I end up with the conclusi...

This just popped up on Ebay Kleinanzeigen. Seller is behaving very suspiciously, by only accepting Paypal F&F and refusing to make a photo with date and seller name. The seller has other suspicious offers (like a whole Ibm 5160 for 200€) as well. I'd stay away. Edit: It's "reserved" now... likely s...

2U wires? For Backspace and Keypad Enter? I have not seen a wire-stabilized backspace on any M, square-badge or not (though I can't say anything about the early industrial square badge models). But regular Enter, keypad Enter and + have them even on early grey-badge models. I'd suspect they initial...

Many folks would personally prefer gift wrapping so as not to have a shipping label on the product box Does that mean that now the product boxes are now going to be directly handled (i.e. abused) by shipping companies? Because that almost guarantees that it'll be damaged beyond recognition at the p...

Re: Strange, oily smell from rubber (?) sheet inside a Model M
The 'blanket' (that's what it's called) smells because it is made out of rubber (actual rubber, not plastic with tons of actually toxic plasticizer). The smell is the same as you get from bicycle tires and things like that and unless there's additional chemicals in there it should be harmless.

It still seems a bit expensive with ~8€ per piece compared to the ~4€ (including shipping) that were promised on Aliexpress. But I guess I'll have to bite the bullet at this point.

Where to buy Pro-Micro controllers / Aliexpress trouble
I've tried to buy small batches (10-20) Pro Micro controllers from Aliexpress three times now. Every time the seller tried to extort more money out of me, refused to ship or claimed to ship but only provided an invalid tracking number. Each time they tried to guilt me into dropping the resulting dis...

Can anybody tell me what durability to expect from the legends on these?
It says on the page they're "laser frosted", which I'm hearing for the first time. How does it work? Is this "frosting" as durable as the anodized layer?

How about getting some existing spherical keycaps and machining out the inside so they would slot over a stem? They'd not really slot though since in many cases the dimensions would be all wrong. There have been some efforts of making a BS to Cherry MX adapter, basically a BS stem with a cherry mou...

Ellipse made an IC last year for doubleshot SA-like caps but it seems there wasn't enough interest. I certainly would have bought multiple sets (given ISO-DE compatibility).
Sadly nothing else.

And there’s no snooty elitism; in fact, that kind of behavior is discouraged. I mean, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been judged by anyone for not...
