Re: What is the Lightest, Highest Actuating, Clicky Switch?

Sounds like you would enjoy Boba U4Ts as well, very tactile, super smooth stock and just generally regarded as some of the best modern tactile switches, about 1.3-1.5 mm actuation though. Being long pole also makes it harder to bottom out despite the sharp tactile event. Honestly its hard to find a ...

Re: German Model F AT Resurrection Journey

1 year and 1 day later, the project was on hold due to the cooked PCB without an easy fix or replacement. That was until this dropped: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28241 So over night the project went from dead to orders being placed for a pack of PCBs and a xwhatsit pandrew controlle...

On todays east bloc exhibit we have the MERA ELZAB 7940, manufactured in 1978, in Zabrze, south west Poland: 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg The keycaps are 1970s thick double shot, im assuming ABS, however the manufacturing process leaves a lot to be desired, with some keycaps being perfectly s...

Fair, my only point of reference is these: HTB1x4OeX1sAV1JjSZFsq6ydZXXaT.jpg Which are ultra thin rubber ones, keyfeel is more or less identical to stock, but with the desired dampened sound, I enjoyed them, they went into both the Novatouch and Realforce sa0100, overall both boards feel more or les...

Damping rings are the key. Once you’ve sorted that, they’re a decent enough, low-key showcase for MX mount caps. Much prefer mine to MX keyboards for that purpose.
Those dampening rings look so thick though, despite being foam, doesnt it massively mess up the keyfeel?

Re: Novatouch

Thats hilariously overpriced though, and missing parts.

For reference I got mine for 130 eur earlier this year, also on ebay, ansi layout.
Admittedly without aftermarket keycaps, but these arent even that pricy.

It's effectively the same as the bandaid mod for mx equivalents, with the stab wire no longer hitting the PCB it's just a muffled and deeper sound.

Re: Novatouch

I keep mine around as a secondary board at all times, sometimes as the only one depending on the rotation and feeling at the time. Case is stock, keycaps are some double shot pbt idobao keycaps, not the best but they were only 40 dollars and fits the stock case very nicely. Switches are lubed and si...

Oh my, you hero.

I can finally complete the German AT board project that spent a good portion of its life as a submarine?
And to think I contemplating selling it for parts.

If you are willing to ship across the ocean, do let me know and Ill gladly pick up one of the 4 you have remaining.

Re: East Germany, Beige Plastic and 2 5V pins [Solved]

For the rest of them, grave was escape by default, tab was ctrl, ctrl (on the right) was shift, which is technically correct but in this case had to be swapped. Having no native win keys, right alt got sacrificed and became a win key, so it was technically correct, but things are better this way and...

Re: East Germany, Beige Plastic and 2 5V pins [Help needed]

Luckily the majority of the wonky keys are down to the "special" XT protocol as the robotron forum hinted at, so using the TMK keymap editor, the vast majority of the keys have been restored to where they should be through trial and error, with a few exceptions: ESC and Prnt Screen is tied and seemi...

Re: East Germany, Beige Plastic and 2 5V pins [Help needed]

Sooooo, in prep for doing a hid_listen I redid all the soldering, desoldered the original cable and permanently affixed the promicro to the internals and now, as Tod Howard would say, it just works. Its still on TMK, nothing else changed since last time, its a bit confused about some of the keys but...

Re: East Germany, Beige Plastic and 2 5V pins [Help needed]

Both of the suspect ones are of the electrolytic kind.

To rule out a few more things, I gave the promicro 2x 1k pull up resistors and connected it directly to the PCB instead of via the cable.
No change in behaviour so im thinking capacitor swap next.

That and giving TMK a shot

Re: East Germany, Beige Plastic and 2 5V pins [Help needed]

It has 2 5v pins, which im guessing is gonna be a problem on 1 USB slot. Not really. They are most likely connected inside the keyboard - there are two ground pins, too. Look at the other end of the cable, or simply check resistance between those pins - should be less than 1 ohm. Tested the two pow...

East Germany, Beige Plastic and 2 5V pins [Solved]

Hi DT, So in my closet lurks the East German Robotron K7673-02 which Ive done nothing which since I got, but always wanted to get some life into. Allegedly these run XT with a slightly modified protocol so some keys might not work but it should be happy with a standard Soarer converter, so I made on...

It's a Wang 2336 apparently, can't seem to find much information other than that, quite a good looking Wang though.

Anyone around got any idea what switches it might have?

Unrelated to recalibrating the cap sense, but more about the multi keystroke in general: Ive restored one of these prior, im assuming you are also running the Jahota Xwhatsit converter? In my experience these boards are generally very sensitive, way more so than a XT/AT F, Id assume its something to...

As mentioned prior, I was closing in on a 262.9, the older, XT speaking brother of the AT speaking 262.12, and the last day of the year this arrived:
